Show me custom painted C5s
So, after an incident last week where some fella decided to back out of his parking spot and park the rear end of his Honda on my front bumper, hood and driver headlight cover I'm toying with the idea of a full respray instead of just doing the front clip.
My '99 FRC has seen better days and the paint, while still good for it's age shows some of it's age to me. My biggest concern is getting the almost 20 year old paint to match with the repaired and repainted area. So this has me thinking full respray.
In all honesty I'm pretty bored of Torch Red as well and this may be the opportunity to change things up.
Looking for inspiration with other custom or respray colors on Vettes. So, show me some pics if you got some to share. Here are a couple of eye catching ones I found.

I had a door, front fender, and front fascia painted to match Nassau Blue - a staged metallic - and the resultant paint work matches what was already on the car 100% and I've placed it under every sort of light source I can get my hands on; natural, LED, UV, etc etc. You cannot tell what has been painted. It wasn't cheap though.
If your car is a driver though and has a good deal of mileage on it and/or decay from the sun then yeah a re-spray may be ideal, but don't be 100% thrown off by paint not potentially matching.

A buddy of mine had his FRC done in Sunset Orange Metallic which was on the F-body cars, and it was AWESOME. It's sold now, but these are some pics of it when he had it up for sale:

Back in the 90s when we were in the USAF, he had two different IROCs sprayed in green, a T-Top in dark emerald green, and a Convertible L98 swap done in a Light Frost Green w/ black top. All of his cars with non-factory colors have been stunners.

Just a thought - have you considered getting your car wrapped? Lots of possibilities there too.

If I had to pick a color for my 2002 Electron Blue Corvette, it would be Electron Blue
But, it I had to pick a color for my 1999 Black Corvette, it would be some variant of orange.

I've always thought the C5 would look tremendous in a deep purple metallic, found this. Not bad, but picture the color used on the 1995 C4's.
But I like the oranges shown above as well.

Yes, I know that a good body and paint shop should be able to match or get really close to the factory TR. But there are boogers and imperfections on the doors, rockers and one rear fender that will always bother me unless I get them corrected. Others may not notice but I know that they are there...if that makes sense. That said...I'm still pretty bored of TR and thinking a color change might really be something for me to consider. I'm still undecided on what I am going to do so still have all avenues open so to speak.

I like the thought of putting a GM color on a model that GM missed opportunities on.
2011 GMC Denali Ice Blue Metallic (same as 2011 Cadillac Blue)...
...would look FANTASTIC on a C5 without BSM and a blingy set of chrome wheels.
If I ended up with a C5 track car, it was going to be painted as such. Alas, I chose a different path, but it may still get this BLUE!
Pics do NOT do it justice. You have to find one and see it in person.
Not that anyone should repaint a 50th Anniversary, but the Shale interior of a 2003 C5 would look PRIMO with this outside color. (Seriously, it should have been under consideration for the 50th AE vs. Aztec Gold!) Light Oak or Black would work too, but obviously not TR.
I've never posted this thought before, as I was holding it close to the chest if I went with a C5 track car, but now, meh, I'd love someone to commit. If I ever have another C5, it WILL be doused in this color. (Current C5 garage queen is TR/TR.)
(BTW, this is different than Carlisle Blue offered on the 2012 C6. Carlisle Blue has more silver/steel to it vs. the blue base hue.)

Seriously look into wraps for interesting colour change that can be reversed if needed.

Not a full custom paint, but custom black paint on lower front fascia, lower rear fascia, and convertible tonneau cover.
