Default Apsis: How do you like this 95-96 C4 D-Type Steering Wheel Concept?????

Hi All,

One of our C4 customer wants us to make the D-Type steering wheel for his 95-96 C4 ZR1. He has purchased two D-Type w/carbon for his 92-93 C4 and LOVES it. Now he wants similar D-Type for his 95-96 C4.

We have exchanged some ideas discussing how to design the 95-96 version with D-Shape and it will stand out from the crowd.

So, he uses photoshop to mock the picture and it seems it turns out pretty nice looking. The next step is I will discuss with our factory to see if we can overcome the hurdles to make it available for C4 community. I know many C4 customers are looking for the D-Type wheel for 95-96 version.

If the responses are positive then we will go for mold making.

So, welcome your opinion. Positive or negative.

By the way, we have another pending order to wrap SuperDeluxe Alcantara for 95-96 Airbag Cover w/Split C4 Logo. (this customer orders both steering wheel & airbag cover) So keep in mind, once we develop this D-Type Wheel for 95-96, then you can also finish the Airbag Cover to complete the steering wheel for you.

If you like to add a color ring at top, no problem we can make it for you.

Here is the picture.

I'm not in to stock stuff, but my opinion is to offer a complete grip wrap as well like most aftermarket wheels.

BTW just curious... It looks you are you are using the stock wheel, is that correct?

I assume you are cutting and welding on them?

Have you or your customers looked in to insurance issues with this mod?

In other words if not the owner, but even owner's friend drives the car and has an accident, something goes wrong and the wheel breaks... on impact I'd bet Insurance will not ignore the part as being modified and will take it in to account in their case.

Court is a tough place to be today is all I mean by that. Maybe there are no issues though.

It already has grip and thumb.

Yes we use the stock steering wheel to convert to such D-Shape wheel.

We don't deal with insurance so I can't give you straight answer.

WE have been making the D-Shape steering wheel for C5, C6 & C7 for 20 years and nobody has such issue. Because we use the stock steering wheel and just transform the shape so you don't lose any safety at all. You will still use your stock airbag.

If with carbon on top & bottom, $998 + core

If without carbon on top & bottom, $798 + core

If you want to add additional ring at top, $100 extra

What' woth the double grips on each side? They both seem placed too low too. Not going to be able to use them with your hands at 9 amd 3 for Amy sort of performance driving.

Of course we will have fine tune the upper side. This is just the picture that our customer uses photoshop to mock it. Just want to show the idea. Actually what we focus on is the bottom because originally we are not sure if we can make the D-shape for 94-96 version.

Ouch!!!
I like the concept, but the price.......
A nice MOMO or Sparco wheel and adapter is about half that.....and they eliminate that ugly airbag cover.

That's a plus.
If losing the airbag cover means you lose the airbag (duh), then I'm all for it.

Jersey:

You should consider making the 95-96 D-type wheel as close to stock appearance as possible, for those of us who want to preserve the stock appearance in our cars. You should also consider a less aggressive price point, as I'm sure your profit margins are high enough as-is (especially considering that all your labor is outsourced to East Asia).

Looking forward to seeing more designs...

I guess I could of worded it better like saying "you lose the safety aspect."

Sincerely,
