Default C5 key fob problem

my key fob, for my 2000 Corvette, was not working so i replaced the battery and re-programmed the fob. It worked one time and then stopped working. I did it again and the same thing.

Your key fob is possibly 17 years old?...Time to invest in a couple of new key fobs...just saying...

So I checked out the cold solder points from the link that 8VETTE7 sent (thanks) and there was defiantly two bad connections. I re-soldered them and re-synced the Fob and everything worked. I locked and unlocked the doors maybe 20 times. I thought it was done but tried it again 30 minutes later and it would not work. Re-sync again and it does the same thing. It does not seem to me that the Fob would have any memory it it. Is this something in the car?

You may have to resolder it again. This has happened to me twice in 3 years and each time over the years it has quit, I resolder it and then it works again. And yes, I use a magnifying setup and do it well.
Also, don't drop it.

Maybe. But here's the latest. I "thought" it was fixed, but I was wrong. Now I train fob 1, then 2. Then I stand outside and sync them. fob 2 works, but when I try fob 1, fob 2 quits working. And fob 1 only locks the passenger door. Kinda wierd to me. Ideas, other than getting new fobs? And should I go with GM fobs, or try those on Ebay and Amazon?
Thanks folks

Don't go by the age of your FOB. My 2000 Vert Fobs are 21 years old, and work. One lost the ability to stay 'locked', or synchronized, to my C5. I looked at posts made here, and re-soldered it. It's pretty easy if you have a pencil type soldering iron and some resin core solder. There may be a sticky here, or, if not, do a search here, or Google "C5 Corvette Fob won't work, or stay synchronized". There a little chip in them that the soldered prongs/contacts are broken free, and not making contact. BTW, I did re-solder mine, and all is good. Good luck......

FACT!!! A guy at work, and his wife, they BOTH smoked 2-3 packs every day!! Several years ago, at those prices then, he told me they were saving around $700/month!!!

The used FOB from ebay didn't work and I couldn't see any bad solder joints on it. After reading the above and soldering the IC pins it now works fine, thanks for the advice.

My 98 fob worked 3 or 4 times and stopped, then I have a whining/almost electrical sound coming from the door. It finally stopped, tried one more time and the same thing happened. The door lock switch on the driver side only locks the passenger side. Is the lock switch or the lock probably shot? What part should be replaced if so ?

Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and spend some money on a newer system. Had issues with my FOBS and decided ENOUGH! I bought a new (used) receiver from a 2003 wreck,
took about 15 minutes to change as the wiring is identical, bought new FOBS from Ebay - 2 for $10.00, and replaced my 21 year old run flats and tire monitors with updated parts.
All good and no worries...
