Top end-C7 vs C6
I think I read somewhere that the Mfg. claimed top end of the base C7 is 170-175mph, and the C6 190mph. Granted the C7 is much quicker, but could the top end figures be possibly true?

According to GM, the top speeds are similar for the C6 and C7 Stingray at 186 mph. Same for the C6 Z06 and C7 Z06 at 195 mph depending on the Aero Package.

The C7 GS with the Z07 package is a 170-175 mph car (the Z06/Z07 is about 185-190 mph with 190 hp extra)- but it produces huge aero downforce, worth about an additional 0.3g at 150 mph - that is the trade-off.

Are all these estimates?
So, I'm not sure I believe much of the mfg claims. The C7 Z06 is supposed to do 2.9 0-60 A and 3.0 0-60 M.
The new ZR1 is supposed to do 2.9 0-60 A. and I can't remember what they said about M.
So am I supposed to believe my Z06 is as fast as a ZR1 (100 more hp)? Why buy a ZR1 (except that it looks amazing) for $40 grand more?
My C6 GS was supposed to do 195 mph. Really? 0-60 in 4.0
With all things being the same, tire heat, track conditions, same fuel, etc, how can this be? All marketing ploys?

0-60 in a Stingray is 3.8. It is 3.6 in the Grand Sport with identical HP and gearing because of the additional traction from the steam rollers out back.
(now my stingray feels slow haha )

ZR1 is heaver by I believe a good couple hundred pounds, so that doesn't help. Tires are wider, so more rolling resistance, and there's a lot more downforce. That thing is probably going to be like pushing a brick through water. Where it will be faster is on the track which is what it's designed for. Taking corners faster and getting back up to speed faster.

As a B'ville Salt Flats racer, I'm sorry but I have to ask... why does it matter? Bench racing? Or...?
You aren't actually going to be testing it on the street. If you really want do know take your C7 of choice to the Texas Mile or similar venue (one in CA whose name escapes me) that run for top speed and do your own empirical tests and report back.

Safety Car
C7 models with Stage 3 rear spoiler are drag-limited. Strip down to Stage 1 rear spoiler and the top end speed is bumped up significantly.

I know I will never hit top speed in my C7 Z06 but I love its 0-60 and 1/4 mile times!
