Default No creaks after taking off coupe roof?

Ok, so, from another thread I see that lots of people (though not all) are removing the roof on their coupes. I have been hesitant to do so (haven't taken it off in nearly two years of ownership) because of fear that the roof will creak afterwards. I didn't read the whole thread, but I didn't see any mention of problems after removing the roof. Is it a myth? Do I not need to worry about it?

Only noise I've had was from the RR interior trim panel when it was in the teens a couple weeks ago. No roof rattles.
Plus it's good practice to condition the seals a couple times a year.

I take the top off 85 % of the time . I have NOT noticed any rattles or squeaks after reinstalling roof panel. Just make sure to relock levers when reinstalling. Take the top off and enjoy the Cal. sun shine!

I take mine off once a month on average. No creaks. Also an opportunity to treat the seals with 303.

I never had any issues with creaks or squeaks when removing and reinstalling the targa tops. The newer hardware might help, and maintaining the seals is a good idea.

I take mine off all the time, the targa top is one of the main reasons I got this vehicle. I wanted a convertible but I hate the look of soft tops. Never had any creaks

My C6s were awful about roof creaks and rattles. Only had it off once in my C7 GS and no noises of any kind. The C7 roof mounts different than the C6. It is harder to get off and on (still not difficult) and seems to latch a lot better. Haven't heard of anyone having this trouble with a C7.

Mine is on/off frequently during Spring and Fall. I keep the weather sealss conditioned but no special treatment otherwise and no noise, rattles, or creaks.

I took the top off my C6 countless times over the 7 years I owned it.
It would crackle and pop a little "sometimes",.. usually Only in the Spring, or late Fall.
When it did, I lubricated the weather stripping with 303 Aerospace protectant and was dead quiet until next Fall or Spring.
Take the top off the C7 all the time now too and after 2+ years, No noise at all yet.
Once a year I use the 303 regardless

The C7 frame is state of the art and immensely strong. It has to be for its HP and level of handling. Nothing except some small plastic pieces have ever made any noise in any C7 that I have driven, and that was in very cold weather and not related to the top.

Take the top off of that beast and enjoy it! You are passing up one of the car's best features for no reason. Going topless ramps up the fun factor by a lot IMO.

That would be correct, no creaks. The problem of earlier models seems to have been adequately addressed.

You haven't seen any mention of problems, most probably because no one has experienced any problems after removing their roof panels. I have had mine off a couple of dozen times in the first year that I owned the car - no problems at all.

I have both the clear and carbon fiber panels and switch them depending on the season. I remove them any time that the temperature is above about 60 or 65, and reinstall them when I put the car in the garage.

The mounting arrangement for the panels has evolved over the years, so it give a much tighter fit than previous generations. Plus, removing/installing the panels gives you an opportunity to inspect the rubber seals and apply protectant as needed.

Enjoy the open air!!!

I was hesitate also. But mine has been off several times and I don't have any issues. I also have a 2009 Solstice Coupe... that roof squeaks a lot.

303 Aerospace Protectant - awesome for all the rubber seals around the cockpit and trunk lid. I also use it on the dash (provides good UV protection as well). Also one of the only products recommended for treating my hot tub cover! Lot's of stores are now selling it so it should be fairly easy to find.
