I usually watch quite a bit Barrett Jackson, but the way things are going this year for restomods that really don't deserve that kind of money vs. original cars made me sick. I turned the program off. This reminds me of the democrats valuing the DACA's more than American citizens, and it sickens me. It may be me, but some people have screwed up values.

What’s going on? A poor little 53 only brings 290k. Restomods rule the roost today.

nuts numbers on many cars. these resto mods guarantee many more vettes will go this way. Cleasr money to be made when well built and go for these numbers. Many other cars are hitting record numbers...many wealthy folks in that room that just want the cars.

There will be 30 consigned next year and the values will go down due to the laws of supply and demand. That is what happened two years ago when there was a plethora of C1 and C2!restomods consigned.

There are already some folks this morning getting online to see what it takes to restomod their vintage Corvette...

I'm having a flashback to the Firebird "Bandit" car values from two years or so ago....

The resto mods with the more modern drivetrains, with LT4, LS3, LS7 motors and modern chassis are bringing strong money. Older resto mods with less modern drivetrains and motors like C4 LT1, C5 LS1 or carbeurated motors aren't as strong.
Down the road, these newer resto mods will become dated when superior drivetrains emerge and their values will also diminish.
One thing nice about an original Solid Axle or Midyear, is that it will always be the way it was made and there is a value to that.

And we're off on the restomod "price over time" wars again....(* SIGH *)
Having said that - these 1/3 million dollar prices are aberrations...

If those were everyday values, you could buy a Top Flight car for $100K, dump another $100K in the restomod work and walk off with $150K profit...

Either some shenanigans in the auction IMO -- or serious-azz testosterone poisoning...

Even though way overpriced on BJ I think a lot of people want a C1 they can actually enjoy driving and the market will stay up but not that up.

Those cars were very nice and I love seeing the interest that they are generating. It's a great thing for the hobby.

The 67 435s that sold for 150 were either restamped, undocumented or had bad trim tags, poorly restored etc etc. Trust me on that. Very few of them have no issues. A real one sold for 583K last week in FLA and other lesser ones sold for in excess of 200K. I am hoping that the day will come where builders will be taking those bogus 435s and converting them into modern builds. I think that day is approaching.

Well, it doesn't bode well for cars like that nice looking original 54 up there. Guys that do these restomod cars want excellent cars to start off with. Gone are the days when the worst cars were sought out for custom work.

I know nothing------------------------and I see nothing about those TV auctions, except what I see here on the forum--------------------and I only do a QUICK once over read on those. That stuff is not my cup of tea.
Actually, I don't watch ANY of the car stuff on TV, except once in a while I'll watch a little of Jay Leno-------------until he gets into the drama crap, then it's over to John Wayne or Clint or Bogart.

Since Thanksgiving, I'm now on my 5th rebuild of an FI unit, with one more on hold. I get a HELL of a lot more entertainment out of that kind of car "stuff"!
And the A26 provides even more pleasure----------------even though it get terribly frustrating at times. The engines haven't been turned over since Sept, so yesterday I went up and turned over both engines (starter engagement only) for 30sec ea. DAMN, that is so exciting to watch those giant props spin around!!! Better than worrying about prices on a 54 Vette!

Options!! Options!! and even more Car Options!!! are driving the New Car Market today.

GM even applied for a car without a steering wheel for government approval. People are wanting even more in car technology...More people are wanting a modern Restro-Mod Vintage Corvette that IS NOW FUN TO DRIVE, Even the new 2018 Corvettes are loaded with options like a new Caddy and 88% now have automatic transmissions.

The new generation of classic car buyers is slowing changing more towards Restro-Mod cars and trucks.

I do not watch, nor do I keep up with the TV auctions on these kinds of cars.
I have other things in life that are much more enjoyable---------------as I feebly attempted to show. Sorry for not demonstrating something more relevant. I'll delete it if you wish.
