The big **** is the wiper motor override, it's used to stop the wiper blades mid-stroke to change the wiper blades.
The two pull down switches on either side are the vacuum overrides for the headlights (left) and wiper door (right). They are used to manually raise the headlight doors and the wiper door.
The **** on the far left is the trip odometer reset.

Do your headlights and/or windshield wiper work?

You were fast DW!

Hi d,
Welcome!
First post!
The vacuum switch on the right is used to open the wiper door without having the engine running or using the wiper switch on the dash. The wipers stay in the parked position.

The **** in the middle is an electrical switch.
When the wipers are on and sweeping turning the switch stops the wipers where ever they are when you turn the switch. It's used for instance to change the wiper blades.

The vacuum switch on the left is used to open the headlight doors without having pulled the headlight switch. It for instance is used when changing a headlamp.

The **** all the way to the left is the reset for the odometer. The **** is spring loaded and you push it up to reset.

You might consider buying a 71 owner's manual which explains these and other controls on the car.

Regards,
Alan

How about a few photos of your 71?
Is it a new car for you?

FWIW: purchase an owner's manual for your 71. Lots of valuable information in the owner's manual, including the function of the ***** under the steering column.
