Hello. This weekend I am planning on taking a road trip from Long Island to Kentucky and hopefully, if everything checks out, buy a car. One of my main concerns is driving it back through the city and dealing with the rough roads, specifically potholes. Should I just get the car shipped back to the island and if so, does anyone know of any good car transporters, or do i have nothing to worry about and should I just drive it back?

I'm assuming you bought the car to spend some time behind the wheel? If so, then drive. If you bought it to store, then ship it.

Was good. I would drive it but if you are uncomfortable driving you can use Reliable transport or intercity as both are great.

In December I bought my first Corvette, a 2012 GS 4LT. I live in Ft. Lauderdale. The car was 468 miles away in Savannah, Ga. I rented a car in Ft. Lauderdale and drove to Savannah with one of my best friends who has a 2006 base. We had a great dinner, spent the night and picked up my new Vette the next morning drove back home. We had a great time and I can't remember a better road trip. Of course the roads in Georgia and Florida are excellent and the weather was perfect. If you can, I say drive it. Good luck. You'll remember the trip for the rest of your life.

I am all for the "drive it home" option, but with a few exceptions. The weather can be very unpredictable this time of year, and if you are driving a high performance (possibly on summer tires)car that is new to you it is very easy to get into trouble. Just my .02. If you can wait until spring and drive it home when the weather is better.

Drive it home. The drive home is the least of your troubles. The bigger hassle is the state to state title transfer and registration and taxes. The DMV cogs move very very slow. Enjoy the drive.

Seriously if the weather is good drive it! Good luck, hope it works out for you. The weather here in KY is supposed to be warm & maybe a little wet by this weekend, don't know about your route home though.

know your weather report for your route and drive it. I bought my 2008 Z06 last February, Indiana to Alabama, 9.5 hours drive one way. There's not a better way to get to know your new ride. I hate driving long distance, anything longer then 3 hours is to much for me, but this road trip is one of my best memories of being on the road. Go for it!!

DRIVE IT , it's a car , I bought mine North of LA drove it 3700 miles to ONT. Had a ball.

I'm thinking you might have seen this above but in case it was overlooked DRIVE IT!!! I put almost 1,500 miles on mine before it got home from the museum. One of the best drives ever.

Normally I'm a 'drive home guy' but I just bought an Atomic Orange C6 up on Cape Cod and there was no way in hell I was driving it to NC from there with the crazy winter storms. I had an EXCELLENT experience with Joncyn Transport out of New Hampshire. $1,000 in an enclosed trailer. No foreigners, a good old fashioned English speaking company. 603-479-0956. Another "Drive-it" fan here. I too live on the Island, did a road trip a few years ago, LI to Bowling Green KY. and back again. You can do the Blue Ridge if you have time or up 81 all the way, a nice easy ride. Or even work your way over to 95 and take that. I kinda like 81, last year I came home from Maggie Valley North Carolina towing my bike and took 81 all the way, easy driving, not a lot of traffic and kinda scenic. And the weather is looking O.K. for the next week or so. Good luck, look forward to seeing you down at the OBI!
