Default TB install issues

Today I fitted a VMax machined TB to my 2017 Z06. Easy 15 min install. Started the car, idled like crap and threw a CEL. I checked hoses and connections, no issues detected. I reinstalled the original TB and all was back to normal. I contacted Juiced Motorsport, they have asked that I re-install and disconnect the battery for 30 mins to reset the fuel trims. Has anybody else tried this method and had any success? I know that the 2017’s have a tighter software calibration but I would expect it to idle correctly. Any insights appreciated.

I installed a Tony Mamo TB about 6 months ago on my 16 Z A8 and didn' have to do anything but reverse the removal of the OE TB.

It just worked and worked great. I noticed a much smoother and quicker response on the first drive.

Do you have any other aftermarket parts installed that could be conflicting? Yes, I have heard of the 17s being less forgiving than the 15 - 16 Z.

Probably defective electronics in the TB.

I have installed a Katech and a Mamo T Body on two 2017's and no issues at all, bolting them on and they improved the drivability a huge amount. I heard about these issues and even my chevy mechanic at the dealership said some were having problems with their 17's when they modded them, I have had no issues with T bodies, intakes or exhausts on my 17's. I did not disconnect the batteries to install either t body

Vmax is known to be problematic on the C7 and gen6 Camaros so at least know you're not alone. Send it back, get a refund, and go with one of the better proven brands such as WeaponX, SoCal Porting, Mamo, or Katech.

The tune parameters are more restrictive on the 17s for increased airflow. That’s why Tony Mamo will reship a new one to you for free with a less restrictive bore. Otherwise I agree with the others, faulty unit.

I have a Mamo on a 2017 manufactured in Dec 2017. It was plug and play, no codes.

I also have a '17 and Tony Mamo TB plugged right in and has worked perfectly since. Only other thing I have is BMS drop-in filter.

Default Mamo

I had tried 2 other manufacturer's ported TB's in my 17 Z with all the same issues as the OP,

Talked to Tony MaMo about the problems, he sent out a less aggressive
ported unit, no problems,...... improved performance.....all GOOD !!

I have a drop in green filter, Borla X pipe and MF Comp exhaust. the car wouldn't even idle, If there were to be issues I would expect it to occur at higher airflow conditions?

ANY 2017 driven AGRESSIVLY/HARD with ANY aftermarket PTB will experience this issue. The solution is to have a dealer reflash the ECU with the GM recalibrated tune detailed in Service Bulletin#17-NA-264.

Only exception is the Mamo less aggressive PTB. Keep in mind most owners really don't know what driven hard really means and will take exception with my comment. I guarantee you I can get any 2017 with the OEM tune to throw a P0106 with any aftermarket PTB as the tune parameters are not friendly to aggressive driving AND more air.
