Too much road noise?
Who has done any modification such as sound deadening or extra insulation to there vets to dull out the road noise?
anyone have any suggestions tried and true?
My ZR just seems to have a little more road noise than I would like to have.

Strip out carpet and rear inner fender wheels... pick insulation materials and go at it. In the end these insulation materials do about the same, only difference is price your willing to give.

Non runflats and insulation, but it won't help much.

Follow post 2.
Big project to do correctly, I recall adds 50 lbs, do a search for pics.
Runflats tires can also add to road noise, but again start w/ post # 2.

How bout just succumbing to the fact that it's a sports car and it's not gonna be as quiet as a Cadillac. I came to that conclusion before I even bought my first Corvette many years ago.

Any wide tired car will make that noise, well almost, but the tries have a great deal to do with it, seems the wider the noisier.
Our Camry does it too, and my Tundra with over size truck tires is the least noise, plus our roads here are TERRIBLE.

Having driven one for 7 years, absolutely the case. The caddy was smooth as silk, but didn't wallow, and very quiet. GM put a lot of effort into engineering a luxury ride. Shouldn't be a surprise; different cars for different purposes.

I have done it to my '01 and my '12 GS. It helps a lot and I just used insulation, not sound deadening products. You can get insulation kits from Vettnuts a vendor on CF. Make sure you do the inside of the wheel wells as well as the inner fender cover that you pull out of the wheel well. It really helps a lot. Plus you will cut down the heat in the center console. By the way it will not add 50 lbs (post #5) if you use just the insulation. Very

Tires will make a BIG difference. But the noise is always gonna be there to some degree. I did everything suggested and there was a difference in noise but not enough to make a big difference. Where it did help a lot was the heat generated in the console area. My ipod would shut down because of the heat generated on long trips...(not the short trips taken by most garage queens). So if heat is an issue go for it but I am just saying you may not be happy with the sound results when you consider all the work involved. Its up to you.
One other thing you need to consider. What other vehicle(s) are you comparing the Vette to as far as noise? My Toyota Avalon is damn near air tight compared to the Vette. My daughters Civic is about as quiet as the Vette. If you are use to luxury quiet it ain't happening in the Vette!

Hope this isn't a hijack, but this reminds me of motorcyclists trying to completely eliminate buffeting by constantly trying different windshields. That begs the question, do convertible Vette owners install sound deadening? I sure hope not...

Non run flats and insulate the entire console, including the shifter box area. However, as tires wear road noise tend to creep back up.
Not enough, then as others mentioned add insulation under all the carpeting, including hatch area. But, if you ask me, not worth the trouble or expense.

Very good points and agreed as I am a vert owner. But believe it or not there are some vert owners that try all kinds of things to stop the wind from blowing on them when the top is down.....I dunno, guess it's just me, but thats why I bought a rag top in the first place was to get a nice breeze !!..
