Default Restomod!! brake calipers

For those of you using custom or aftermarket brakes, are you using factory Z06 or ZR1 Big Brake Calipers
? I want to get a set from ebay but want to ensure I dont have to buy those exotic rotors too....looking at using ZR1 with Powerstop Rotors and pads....looking for those with experience doing this....let me know; thanks.

I have decided on the Wilwoods for the conversion to discs on my '64. I am using factory disc parts except the calipers and will do braided steel lines.

I think that the Wilwood conversion requires their braided steel lines, something to consider if you lose a brake hose further down the road. As an aside, the talk has been sorta' fuzzy about whether these calipers will clear the OEM 15x5.5 steel wheels of 15x6 OEM knock-off wheels. Any conclusions ?

Interesting. I was considering the factory ZR1 - Z06 brakes....but the Wilwoods are aluminum.....factory isnt...I am not concerned with wheel size..I have 19" on front and 20" Grand Sport (2013) on the car....

Ebay listings for the "ZR1" calipers and "Z06" rotors indicate they are compatible with both Z06 and ZR1 cars.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-GM-OEM-...-/112048479552

https://www.ebay.com/itm/2006-2010-C...!US!-1&vxp=mtr

This listing indicates the rotors will fit c6 zr1

I would call Power Stop and explain exactly what you are doing and see what they say.

My 63 has C6 J55 calipers and rotors with ABS power assist. It will make you wish you had sholder belts.

Look on Summit website. They carry many brands including aluminum Wilwood brake calipers.

I used stock C6 ZO6 rotors and calipers. Bought the complete set up off Ebay. About $2k if I remember correctly. I have a Sriii chassis.

I put the c6z brakes on my restomod ., It's an sriii frame with c5/c4 suspension and I'm having trouble finding wheels that clear the width of the caliper . I'd be interested to know what others have used in this scenario.

The Wilwood D8 (and D8-6 front) caliper kits come supplied with stainless steel braided hose kits standard. While not required on this model caliper (not npt like others) we feel it's only right they be part of the complete package thus replacing what are often very old rubber hoses.

Colors include; clear (grey) as well as Black and Rred

Buyers can save money by doing all for corners at once with complete packages starting at $1050 to the door.

C2 and C3 Listings

Looks like Wilwood Brake Calipers are the winner. But, I would not pay extra for black ceramic coated Rotors. The protective black ceramic coating will wear off soon after driving your corvette around town.
