Default Ebay ZR1

Anyone know this car? Seems to be well traveled by description?

Looks like I may have bought it....at least won the auction and sent a deposit. Seller is a wholesaler. I offered $16k and he accepted. Talked the previous owner today. Nice guy. He did let me know the 1-2 synchro were going out.

Welcome to the addiction! Be sure to sign up over at ZR1.net forum. Lots of great info and helpful folks.

Just noticed your from TX. You have lots of company there and some good wrenches should you need it. Steve (jss06c6) in Magnolia TX will be opening a specialized shop in the next few months.

As I live in the same town, please let me know if I can help you. If nothing else, I can buy you a beer and introduce you to some of the other ZR1 guys in the area.

Yes, check out ZR1net

Hmmm... give it a day and try it again. Others have had issues. You can get on the forum and participate without being a member. Still if you own a Z membership is the way to go.

Thanks Guys. Ice and slush in Wichita Falls today and yesterday. Certainly nothing I would want to drive a ZR1 through. Going tomorrow with intent to purchase and drove back home.

This will be my 2nd ZR1. Had a '90 back on 2002. I think it was #343 If I remember correctly. Was always worrying about adding miles, as it only had 13k when I bought it. With 60k on the clock, I hope to enjoy driving this one a bit more.

Unfortunately, was not the car I was expecting. Seller claimed the car was a 9.5 out 10. Overall, I'd call it a 6 or 7 out of 10. Body and interior were ok...horizontal window rubber cracking. Lots of delam in windshield. Main deal killer was under hood. Badly stained cam covers and plenum. Overall condition was much less than I expected for a car that was shown a lot. The main deal killers was all the Nitrous plumbing under the hood, and title was still in previous owners name.search goes on.I asked seller if he was going to return my deposit and he stated he would. Haven't seen it yet. He has the car relisted 2 separate Ebay auctions now at 2 separate prices, now.

Okay, Okay.... now I (think) rememebr this car. The current "owner" is in the middle of a flip. IIRC, that car was from Garland (SE Dallas suburb) and was on CL for 12K only a month ago--hence the title in the old name.

Registering a car in Texas requires the buyer to pay tax on the purchase price.

Maybe at 12k the car is a deal but not at 20k.

I luv these guys that try to flip these cars. They don’t have clue and think because it’s a ZR-1 someone will automatically pay $20K or more for a car that has issues. That’s how I got my current car. The guy trying to flip it suddenly couldn’t move the car and got scared he would get stuck. Sold it to me for next to nothing. Exactly the project car I was looking for, that could easily have cost me $4k more than I paid.

Keep looking the one with your name on it is out there.

This is the car to get if you intend conservative but effective mods.

http://www.zr1.net/forum/showthread.php?t=28744

If you bought a $16k car and did what has been done to this car it would cost you another $20-$25k to get it to this point.

Heck of a deal for $25k...
