New 0-40 Oil on Constraint ?
Talked with my dealer about my upcoming free oil change on my 2016 Z06 A8. Wanted to make sure they had the new oil. I read it was supposed to be in dealers Feb 1st. Having been in the corporate world I didn't hang my hat on that date. My dealer syas it's on constraint/back order, and that they cannot order it.
Is any aspect of the above true ?

Are you sure it's the new Mobil One ESP 0w40 Dexos or just the same Mobil One 0w40 that we've all had in stock for years?
If possible, post a pic of the bottle so we can verify the part number. I would love to use it as ammo for our oil supplier to get their *** in gear.

We have been checking in almost daily with our GM oil supplier and we've not been able to receive it yet through the GM oil program. As I understand, no dealers in our area or most anywhere else have received any yet.

There apparently a GM document that cites the new oil regarding Camaros. I do not have it yet.

We have that bulletin that states it is for use in the Camaros and will be available at dealers soon, but still haven't been able to source the oil through GM's oil program yet.

^^^ nope, that's the wrong formula. That's the European FS formula, not dexos approved. A lot of dealers have been stocking that oil already (the one near me has been using it for years) Just look at the post above yours to see what the bottle is supposed to look like (it must say ESP formula on it and have the dexos logo)

Wow. So is this a better choice of the 0w-20 GM calls for in my Yukon's 6.2L L86 (same engine as LT1 but with different intake and exhaust manifolds)? Should I use this in my LS7 that calls for dexos1 5w30? What is the better oil (protection) if you have no intention of getting onto the track?

The little I know of motor oil... the VI of 189 is outstanding... and means, to me at least, a very high quality synthetic oil. REAL synthetic. This new Mobil 1 ESP 0w-40 represents the best automotive oil for our cars... as good as Redline/Amsoil and other boutique oils. No need for additives etc. The somewhat lower TBN is ok as it is good for the typical garage queens or 5,000-7,000 mile/ 1 year oil changes many Corvette owners drive. The added benefit is it's a good track day oil too... no need for constant oil changes.

The "new" Mobil 1 oil Looks very much like the European Mobil 1 ESP 0W40, although some slight differences in the spec form, These differences are very small, it is dexos 2 approved and the bottle Looks Looks almost exactely the same.
We can get this oil in Germany since years .....

If he's still under the GM powertrain warranty or an extended warranty, he certainly shouldn't be exposed to a warranty denial because of using an unauthorized oil. So he should make sure the records show that the 0W-40 was only in there for a few miles and was promptly replaced by a Dexos 5W-30

I got an oil change today. My dealer never heard of Mobil 1 0-40. I had to bring my own 15-50. They did not want to put it in the car until they looked it up in the owners manual. They are big on Corvettes, at least when it comes to sales...

I just received an email from Corvette service advisor at Criswell Chevrolet, and they finally received a shipment of Mobil 1 ESP 0W-40 today. I'm sure that means it's now being shipped to dealers.
