Strange new whistle.
SO after the car sat over the winter for about 2 months. I've noticed now when I start I get this high pitched whistle coming from somewhere. Now after 5 mins or so its gone. Its been happening every time I start it over the past few weeks. Like I said after 5 mins it goes away but its annoying me. Any idea what it could be?

Are you sure its not the AC recirculation button? For some odd reason the vette auto-recirculates for the first 5 minutes or so to control temp better before automatically switching to outside air. Barring that, I'd take a look at all your accessory drive pulley bearings. Pull the belt, spin the pulleys. If it feels gritty its a bearing on its way out.

I'll try the air recirculation button first see if that helps. Because I didn't have this problem before I put her away. Thanks for the tip hope it works.

I have the same thing for the first five or ten minutes and then it goes away...
It's the belts...
All I know is the weather warmed up and in the past day or so the whistle is gone in start up...
I thought maybe it was the HArmonic balancer until the weather warmed up and the 5 minute whistle went away...
Turn on the radio and forget it...for now..
Come the summer time I imagine the whistle will be gone...
As the weather jumped to 60 degrees the past day or so...and the whistle went away...I was laughing thinking maybe it was all the dust etc on the belts with the cold weather...combined....
If the whistle extends past the first start up in the day for five minutes and continues in all type still of driving ..I'll look at the harmonic balancer replacement...come the summer..
But be prepared it's 8 hours of labor. Plus an aftermarket 200 dollar part...
Five minutes of squelling on the first startup of the day in the winter months is hardly worth 1000 bucks...imo
We had a rainy day....with warmer weather in the fifties and the five minute startup whistle was gone..
Same for 60 degree day and no rain too..no whistle...
Cold weather...belt noise...for only five minutes...I'll save the $1000 bucks..
My GM world class tech said not to worry at this point....if it only lasts five or ten minutes at start up in the winter months...
We can be as owners a bit ****.

Btw I have owned since new , use daily as my daily driver, garaged and I'm very very proactive on maintaince throughout the ownership.
I now have over 118k miles on my corvette...
Most reliable car I've owned over the past forty years...
The cars are just about worthless in the used car market but this car looks so good, performs so well ...I can't bring myself to sell it although that new c8 rear mid engine might tempt me after the first year fury subsides...
Just because I'm turning 60 as the car releases I might treat myself ..
Meanwhile this c6 z52 manual coupe has just been fantastic from an ownership reliability standpoint..

I cant really pin point it. But sounds like its coming from the passanger side engine bay.
So Its in the high 50s today. Started it up and it was still there... still went away after 5 mins or so.

Took the car out tonight for a little bit of drive when I start it it up there was no whistle no whistle as I was driving must just be due to the cold weather I'm guessing. Tomorrow is supposed to be even warmer if I start her up and there's no whistle I'm going to chalk it up to the cold.
