Rebuilt title

I would say if it looks good and runs good and you like it might be a good deal. Especially if you just plan to drive it and not thinking it's an investment (because it is not). Another plus would be if you can do most of the maint/repairs yourself. No matter what kind of title, when you start taking these cars to the repair shop, they get expensive $$$$$!

Thanks for the reply guys, the car is already repaired , by what he said was a place that specializes in corvettes here in Tampa, and he’s driven it for 7 years since the repairs , he doesn’t know the exact repairs and he bought it after it was repaired, my question is if I drive it and like it and it handles as good as he says, considering the rebuilt title, is offering him 8K to low I’ve seen some vetts around here in that year going from 11k to 14k if you knock off 1/3 because of the rebilt title you get round 8 -9 k, is that about right? I’m just worried about what I will get for it when I sell it , and he did say it took a big hit in front so I’m assuming the frame was bent to some extent and repaired.

Agreed. Although if you get it for $8K and the repairs look good, you won't lose a lot of money at this price. There has to be a bottom for the C5 to hit, I don't ever see running and driving ones be $3,000 cars.

With 50k on the car after repair I wouldnt worry about it if the price is right. Some freak at a salvage title, some dont.
Yes you can get full coverage also Id recommend it i todays day and age people will steal or vandalize anything, found out the hard way. 0 deuctibles rock.

It is amazing how little damage it takes to 'total' a 10-15 year old car. I have a friend that bought a 2003 Z06 that simply needed a new left side rocker and rear fender. He paid about 14,000 several years ago. He made it into a 'track car', however it has been solid in just about every aspect.
My 2001 vert is a 'flood car' that simply needed a new BCM and carpet replacements. I've owned it for at least 5 years and it is as reliable as my 2014 C-7. Because I knew the extent of the damage, fixed it myself, and didn't plan on selling it for a long time I had no worries about resale values.

I would not have an issue with this if I planned on keeping the car for long term use. Of course, I don't think anyone buys a 75k mile C5 as an investment.
His 50k miles should indicate everything is right with the car, but it's still worth giving it the "once over."
Let us know what you do, and if you pick it up, post some pics.
Best wishes with this.

resale value has to be considered and buy it accordingly....and do your due diligence and spend $150 for a preinspection report and keep it for when you sell it
8k would be a great price for you....up form there its less appealing as you go up....over 10k i dont think so
good luck
PS....and as my buddies say "Hell thats only 20 one hundred dollar bills"

Redzg is correct. It's easy to purchase with a salvaged title, but very difficult to sell it. My '78 Silver Anniversary Vette had a salvaged title and prospective buyers walked, and some ran, when I mentioned the salvaged title. I ended up selling it to a neighbor for about half of what it would have been worth with a clear title. My advice would be to keep looking. ...just sayin.

it has to be half price and with no issues to be a contender, its all its worth. but it doesnt mean it would not be a lot of fun

Resale values aside, make sure you speak to some insurance companies before you make a decision, some companies will not even touch a rebuilt or salvage titled vehicle.

I wouldn't have an issue buying a properly repaired salvage car depending on the prior damage, however the price must reflect that. And the price must reflect that I will be stuck with a car that nobody wants to buy should I choose to sell it down the road.
I have looked at salvage cars, and passed as I could by a non-salvage car for the same price or not much more.

I didn't intend to be a wet blanket, by the way. I tend to buy cars and motorcycles at the same rate, when the current versions are consumed beyond hope or value.
