Default Transparent top care and feeding?

I just received a transparent top in time for some good weather cruising , and searched the forum for cleaning and care tips..

What I gleaned was
1) Clean if necessary only with GM's glass cleaner as standard window cleaners contain alcohol and ammonia that will break down and craze the polycarbonate
2) Further cleaning/polishing if required using either Novus 1 or Plexus plastic polish - (Are these functionally equivalent to Meguiars PlastX that I have on hand from polishing headlight covers?)
3) Wax and detail clean same as standard body panels between washes - I am using Meguairs Ultimate detailing spray and liquid wax... Is there a more preferred wax for best protection (paste/liquid polymer/carnauba?
Most of the threads died in '15 and '16, so I would like to know what is the latest thinking on care and feeding of the transparent top...
Thanks in advance!
Jim

I used to use Plexus polish, but regular detailer, or any car wax or polish is fine. Just no window cleaner or rubbing compound polish. Mine is as smooth, and shinny as new.

You're overthinking it. It's not any harder to take care of than any other part of the car.

Thanks, but I'd rather not unknowingly do something that will cause a $1700 component to craze or otherwise become unusable....

I use Novus #1 to clean and shine the Transparent top.
And once or twice a year put a coat of Rejex on it

I treat mine just like the rest of the car's exterior, which includes routine washes using a commercial car wash concentrate (at least once per month whether it needs it or not) and Rejex every six months. Between washes I use a California Duster (almost daily) and Maguiar's Ultimate detailer for occasional touch-ups.

I used GM Glass cleaner for 9 years on my C6 transparent top and still use GM Glass cleaner on my 2017 C7 transparent top. No scratching, no clouding or hazing. When I traded in my C6, the top looked brand new.

I also use it for my car windows.

$5.00 per can and lasts me a couple of years.

GM Part number - 88865156

It works for me.

Hmm... No joy searching the interwebs for that part number, nor for the reportedly equivalent/replacements 21112709 or 00992727
The only "GM Glass cleaner" that pops in search engines is the Optikleen Glass Cleaner washer fluid concentrate PN 1051515, which is reportedly formulated to be safe for the transparent top ...

I gave you the Canadian version number that I use.

Here is the US number --> 19287404 and a link.

Your local dealer should have these in stock.

Not harder, but different.

I've lost track of the number of C6's I've seen with cloudy or crazed transparent tops and headlights. Most of the time, when I asked the owner what they used to clean the plastic with, they told me "glass cleaner", like Windex or Invisible Glass. I suspect the C7 will show similar results.

On our C5 and two C6's I used only soap & water, followed by GM Glass Cleaner. No problems. Finally replaced the C6 headlights at 8 yrs/95k miles, frequently parked outside, just because of stone pitting.

Some people use "ordinary" glass cleaner and report no problems.
My mother smoked a pack a day her entire adult life and never had any problems from it, but still I don't smoke.
