1980 L48 sagging / Low rear end / photo
Hello , I have noticed that my rear end seems pretty low . When I go over bumps and not really big bumps the vehicle really give me a jolt .
I am thinking new rear spring or possibly and adjustment to the spring ?
I would like to get this fixed asap as everything else is up to snuff .
Thanks in advance

leave the car upside down. takes weight off the springs... shorter spring mount bolts will raise the rear end. if spring is shot, it will need replaced, but this stopgap may get you through a while. cuz once you start unbolting the rear spring, next thing you know you are rebuilding trailing arms, diff, brakes...

Just my opinion, get rid of that collapsed composite spring in favour of a new 9 leaf steel spring, i did that this past fall. Car rides way better and doesnt bottom out.

well if you want a stiff ride go with the steel spring ,if you want a nice ride go with the composite spring, around 1980 or 81 the composite spring was a standard item.Oh you might want to tip your car back on the wheels ,or you are gonna spill gas!!!

Off topic but of GREAT importance: Check those tires of yours now...were you aware there is an active recall on the Cooper Cobra GT's???
Take a look here --> U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association Tire Recalls
You'll have to look at the D.O.T. codes on your tires and compare.
Regards,
Dave

Awesome news Chris!!
We're all in this together...things work best when we all keep an eye out for one another.
Glad to hear you're in the clear...now, back to your original "programming"!

Get Longer Bolts on the rear leaf and install them.
Its counter intuitive how there adjusted .
Loosening nut/washer raises the car BODY up (lefty loosie)
Tightening the bolt washer ( Righty tighty) draws the body down and will make it sight as you see in your photos .
I had a roughly 6" long bolt to begin and I installed 8.5 inch bolts which allowed the car to sit where it needed to be
