Tell them to pound sand ...only use premium, it does not cost that much more...some people use regular to save a few pennies but each to their own...I have used premium from day one ........14 years ago......... .02 registered

Premium! I also have a '99 bought new & have used Shell Premium whenever available. I also suggest using some Techron Fuel Additive. I have never had a gas gauge reading issue that some C5 owners have had. Best of luck with your new Vette & remember to "Wave to fellow Vette Drivers."

I use Techron concentrate every chance I get....dissolves sulfur deposits from fuel cards and helps prevent buildup....crazy me huh?

First, Welcome to the Forum. Ditto everyone’s else’s comments using only premium. Also, you’ll find most suggest Exxon or Shell.

Only Chevron ethanol free 94 (edit, typo, auto correct??? Sorry all not 104) octane with Techron in my tank. Costs a bit more... but it is a performance car.
Lately our van has been running not too great. Ethanol to blame? Tried the above; runs much better. Now looking for cheaper ethanol free to see how that goes.

Welcome to the asylum...
As for gas, do yourself a favor and run only Tier1 certified premium. Then, at least once a year, run a bottle of Techron through.

From the owners manual 2003
"Use premium unleaded gasoline with a posted octane of 91 or higher for best performance. You may also use middle grade or regular unleaded gasoline rated at 87 octane or higher, but your vehicle’s acceleration may be slightly reduced. If the octane is less than 87, you may get a heavy knocking noise when you drive. If this occurs, use a gasoline rated at 87 octane or higher as soon as possible. Otherwise, you might damage your engine."

Shell V-Power Premium cured my gas gauge issue. It's all I use. Best gas out there.

With the quality of today's gas I would think that the pump rated premium would be the minimum octane that you would chose to use. If and I say IF you could not find any premium one tank "probably" won't hurt anything. First tier gas at least. I would stay away from the alcohol gas as much as possible also. This is just my opinion though.

Welcome to the Forum
91 octane or above. I try and use 93 octane whenever possible, my supercharged C5 likes it.

if you end up not having high-octane available, just be easier on the throttle because high loads on high-compression engines with low-octane fuel will knock & could potentially blow your motor.

I use premium ethanol-free gas in my outboard, chainsaws, snow blower, mowers, tiller, trimmers.....all my small engines. They start easier, run better and last longer with fewer fuel issues.

Welcome to the Forum, and YES, Do use premium.
ALSO Please READ your owner's manual!!! There is a welath of GOOD info there and lotsa little secrets, like ONLY lower your car 10mm (0.5"), and
DO add one quart of oil for track usage (HPDE).
Enjoy your new car..... drive it
