Default Use for Old Frame?

I’ve got everything stripped off of the old frame and ready for transfer to the new (after prep), but not sure what to do with it. Does the frame or any part of it have any value? It is rusted through on all four corners, and the rear crossmember. The x-frame, brackets (clutch, mount, etc...), and upper crossmember are good. I am going to cut the serial number out and keep it, but don’t know if I should keep anything else.

Thanks!

Barry

I was hoping you would say that because scrappers come through the neighborhood on Sundays, and they will be more than happy to have it.

I've been watching videos of guys forging knives out of everything from old steel cable to bicycle chains. Perhaps you could join in on the forging craze and sell knives made from a genuine C1/C2 frame. If not you, perhaps you could find a forging entrepeneur who would pay a litlle more than scrap to make and sell them himself.

Lol. Based on the “scale” inside, it may take a 3-foot section to make a pocket knife. I am looking forward to assembly with smooth threads and clean hands.

Not a C1 guy, but for C2s, frames with usable pieces can be sold for donor cut-ups, but man, yours is one holey frame!

Interesting thing is, so far everything body-wise, under dash, kick panels, etc... is solid. I don’t understand why the frame had so much rot.

There are old drag cars that need these parts. I used to own one.

Reproduction frame parts are surprisingly expensive... I'd keep the original good sections and offer them to someone restoring a butchered frame.

Body putty. I bought a car that had rusted out trailing arms that were fixed with bondo.

Was it the one in your avatar?

Trailing arms fixed with bondo - that's a new one to me.

Unless you are willing to see how the rest of the frame is... That amount of rust is very severe. I am sure you would not want to sell it to someone knowing the x member is not safe. You might be able to save the body mounts and the rear and top cross member. But looking at the pictures you shared I would pass on it.
