Default does this waterpp weephole look like it was leaking?

it was dry. no shiny wetness from an active leak. there leaks from the block gaskets.

to my surprise it looked like this may have at one time leaked but why would it have stopped.

my plan was to simply replace the faulty water pump gaskets but now that i see that "drip stain" it makes me think at one time this waterpump has leaked out the weephole.

I would bet it has leaked just enough when hot to discolor the aluminum before evaporating off.

Do you know the age of the pump? A decent new pump is pretty inexpensive. For all the effort it takes to get to the damn thing I would change it.

That doesn't really look like a drip stain to me. More like some machining lube that dribbled out once the pump was mounted.

i did see a post where this exact thing happened. assembly goop came out after initial heating and that was it.

I think you worry too much. Clean it up and see if it does it again.
You'll know if it's really leaking anyway
