Which radar detector do you recommend?
I'm going to buy a new radar detector for my 2018 Z06 3LZ. I intend to mount it to the rear view mirror post.
Which one do you recommend and why?
Which mirror mounting bracket do you recommend?
Which power cable do recommend?
Thanks a bunch!

Before you get nasty responses, check this post (there are others like it, but this is the latest discussion): Anti-popo tech that actually works? Radar Detectors?

I have two 9500ix Escorts 1 in each Corvette. They replaced the 9500ix with the new Escort ix! I'm just now ordering the New ix for my other cars! Made to not trigger off of other cars. It goes off it is a cop.
Should be a great unit! I use the blendmount and mirror tap.
Takes about ten minutes to do!
I'm wanting to sell my new Tacoma and get the new Audi R3

Valentine 1 for me. Have had these units for decades and Great Lakes Trophies makes a great rear view mirror mount...and really cheap...$15-$20??
IMHO, the V-1 units have always scored #1 in car mag reviews....i.e., Car and Driver who test these units every year.
Years ago V-1 always hit the bulls eye in testing. Gotta admit I have not followed current reviews. Maybe others have been updated?
Have appreciated their customer service. Probably 10+ years ago the lights went out on my V-1 advising I was about to leave on a long road trip. They asked me to over night it and I did. They either replaced the unit or repaired in ONE day and over nighted it back to me in time for my trip. Can you spell AWESOME? Let me add....NO CHARGE!
Another plus is that you can trade in your "outdated" unit if some new feature comes out.
They will take your old unit in trade for $XXX in exchange for an updated unit.
I did that a few years ago. Logged on to their site, entered my serial number and they advised that my cost to upgrade was $xxx but they did NOT recommend I do so as the cost was not warranted.
Over the last few years I was annoyed at the V-1 going off cruising down the interstate...followed me forever....like a trooper was behind me. Discovered the Blind Spot Monitor on other cars would set it off.
Sure enough V-1 had an upgrade to eliminate this annoyance. Checked my trade in value for a new unit. Very reasonable...done deal...sent my old one in and got the new unit immediately....better yet, it solved the issue 100%.
Maybe others do the same?? Don't know, so this is merely my opinion on how impressed I have been with the V-1.

I have a V1 with Savvy, concealed display and a blendmount. It serves my needs well.

Valentine 1. I have a couple of them and work perfectly. Upgradable forever. Also had Escorts and Passports in the past and they are also really good but no arrows. Mike Valentine invented the first Escort at Cincinnati Microwave before leaving to form his own company.
All are better than nothing but none should be your first line of defense. Situational Awareness, WAZE and detector, in that order.

Hey Montana, congrats on your new car, and welcome to CF!!!
I have a 9500ix and a Max 360. I use them both (leave the 9500 in my wife's Denali and switch the 360 back and forth between the cars I drive the most).
I've run the 9500 and Max at the same time, and they are pretty close in sensitivity, etc. The Max was just a bit better in early warning.
Both have GPS that will record 'false signals', and it used to work pretty well that way - - but here is the rub with any detector: So many cars are throwing radar that you get K and X triggers a lot just from other vehicles. I'm going to turn these bands off because it drives me nuts (short drive!). I also had to turn laser off because our CT6 has night vision which throws infrared, which is very close to laser and it was constantly setting it off. But my experience is that most (certainly not all by any stretch) use Ka, and that one is still good - you hear that one and you know it's LEO. And if laser goes off it's pretty much too late anyway. Maybe the new ix fixes some of the triggers from other cars??
I do like the arrows on the Max. Never thought it would be a big deal, but I really like them and they work very well.
Good luck, and enjoy that beautiful C7!!

Uniden R3. Replaced my 9500ix with this, so much better. The distance is amazing and way less false alerts from car radar.
