Default Dad Wrecked his Z06-A Word of Caution For Everyone...

This certainly was NOT the phone call I wanted to get last night. It was a cold, but dry evening and my dad wanted to take his car out since he had not driven it in a while.

While getting onto a freeway onramp, he hit a little bit of moisture and lost control.

I am all for year round driving depending on conditions-drove mine yesterday too, but everyone needs to be careful out there. You never know what could happen.

Thankfully, before I got there, some good Samaritans stopped and pulled the fender off the door so the door could be opened.

He's OK, but has bruised ribs and shoulder.

The climate is different everywhere. The roads were generally dry. Many corvettes are driven year round in Washington state.

That is too bad and I'm sorry to hear about his mishap. I have had a strong urge to take ours out of storage and put it on the road since there have been a few signs lately that spring isn't far off but thought better of it.

I had a few instances last year on dry but cold pavement on a cold clear day. I know the Michelin PSS tires are highly rated and would agree in the summer they are fantastic but when its cold they are scary.

Glad your Dad is OK. These Corvettes with big HP under the hood even the base engine cars do not have adequate tires for the HP. It is too easy to break traction with even supposed sticky tires on these cars.

Again, glad your father is OK.

I'm so sorry about what happened. At least there wasn't serious injury. God was watching out for him. I think that when we hold the car in garage then finally take it out we are not as prepared for the awesome power under our control. I drive mine daily. So I think I'm a little more used to the varying weather conditions. But today had to drive car in heavy rain. It was less than pleasant. Hydro-planning. Deep puddles with a Vararam intake. My Poor car was not happy at all.

Thanks. Different Tires were actually one of the next things he was going to do.

On this curved on ramp, realistically, it could have happened to any car.

Thanks ALL. 1st step is to see what the insurance company says, and we'll go from there. I told him multiple times-cars can be fixed or replaced....he can't.

Wow...sorry to hear about the mishap. Where did it happen? What kind of tires were on his car?

Glad your dad wasn't seriously injured.

It was the on ramp to 167, right where it ends/begins in Puyallup.

Oh yes....I know that ramp very well. Great place to get up to speed in a hurry and have a little fun.

Was your dad running summer tires?

Glad your Dad is Ok and sorry about the car. Stuff happens and we all need to be extra cautious on a wet road. Surely he had the nanny's on but was probably getting on it a bit on the ramp. I do myself and try to be more careful on cold wet evenings. It only takes a moment for the car to get loose in those conditions.

The weather will do it to ya. You're so used to certain speeds in certain areas that it just takes a momentary lapse of awareness of weather conditions - especially if he's used to that corner, in that car, in better weather. Glad hes safe.

That's the on-ramp I first thought of when 91LSMAN described the scene.

Hopefully he's already flat-bedded the car to Corvettes of Auburn.
