How many have peeled it off?
I'm talking about the OEM clear film patches that sit sit on the lower rear of the rocker panels?
I have side skirts and the GM extension guards which protect quite a bit, so I'm debating removing the film. Thoughts??

If you have side skirts, "Just Do It!"

I don't fine the film offensive and I'm fairly picky.
IMO, you can't have too much protection for the rockers.
Mine will stay unless they get really scared up or start yellowing.

About two moths after I installed full length side skirts and knew hey were doing the job, removed the plastic. Sold it 3 years later, not a mark on the rocker panels!

While I did remove the factory piece, I replaced it with a larger, better fitting piece from forum vendor, Cleartastic:

I also have full length side skirts ( C7 Carbon GTX ) and extended front splash guards...... NO rock chips for me

The OEM film is really poor quality film. It yellows very quickly (most notable on white). I removed mine and replaced with larger Xpel PPF.

I used Forceshield Paint Shield in Lewisville. They came highly recommended by Xpel. Had front fascia, full hood, full front fenders, rockers, section in front of rear wheels and mirrors done. Kevin did a great job.

I removed the lower rocker film when installing full length side skirts, which was a PITA. It peeled off in pieces and left a lot of residue behind. Isopropyl and GooGone ultimately cleaned it up, and applying heat helps.

I've kept mine on my '14 LRG Vert. They aren't visible on this color, and I don't have side skirts.

No one, including myself, ever seems to notice it on my all black '18. I did, however, remove the black "Stingrays" and "Corvette" I paid extra for, though... does that count???

How to
This is a PDF of How To Remove the film! I did not fully understand how critical it was to do it properly. In one 6 inch long area along the bottom of the first side I pulled at too shape and angle and it took ~20 minutes of hard work to get the glue off!!
Do it right and the glue comes off with the plastic! The other side of the car it was a snap!

Had mine removed when I had 3M Pro-Series film installed.
