Default Mice ate my hoses

I took the car into the shop today. Mice had built a nest next to the vacuum storage tank! They ate through the hard plastic vacuum hoses to the vacuum hose manifold attached to the tank. Tried to figure where the source hoses were but no luck. I dug into it to figure out why I had no control of air direction and weak air flow on every fan speed. So.... you low mileage garage queen owners need to ck for mice infestation behind the right front tire under the battery. My 99 has 62000 miles so the PO rarely drove it.

do you keep it garaged?... if so place dryer sheets throughout the garage and that will deter them, there is something in it that they don't like... mothballs will work as well but they don't smell great... if you keep it outside under a cover I'd keep some in the suspension areas and under the hood and that should be good enough to keep them out... if you store it for extended periods of time you may need to swap the sheets out periodically to keep them fresh

So it wasn't your homework, it was your hoses.

I'm not a fan of cats, but would much rather have one of them than a snake.

Dryer sheets do work well and the cost is very minimal.

My C5 sits outside in an open area luckily never have a problem but I use Irish Spring soap at all the door areas of the single car garage (the wife's car resides) where the critters can wiggle through. So far, I have had no problems with mice.

I had the same problem a few years ago .Chipmunks or squirrels ate up a lot of wiring an hoses on my wife's DD. We just happened to have it in for some recall when the service writer call and told us about it .He told me to call my insurance company and they would pay for the repairs .I thought yeah right ! I called them, what did I have to lose .The insurance company inspected the damage and gave to go ahead to pay for the repairs with no deductible ! I was shocked !
