I need help from y'all. What are the pro's and cons of installing Treckspec three hood vents on my 1999 vette?
I'm worried what if I get caught out in a rainstorm, Ty for sharing your knowledge and wisdom.

Unless I was doing numerous autocross/HPDE/Time Trial/wheel2wheel driving there really is a reason to add the hood vents. From a cosmetic point of view, Beauty is in the eyes of the Beholder. If you like them, fine if you do not like them, fine.

I do not know of any cons, and I know a lot of people that have installed them. Some track cars, and some daily driven cars. Zero issues.

A lot of cars have hood vents and don't have problems in the rain. Supposedly the bottom breathing intake throws a fair bit of water around the engine compartment anyways, I'll have to see if this is true the next time it rains.

Pros: reduces underhood pressure, which reduces front end lift and improves radiator airflow. Reduced lift means better handling. This is really only noticeable at high speeds (90+ mph in my estimate). It also means better MPGs, however slight. Underhood temps will also be lower.

For me, it is more of an issue of looks than anything else - not my cup of tea. That said, I did have an MCM hood at one time and really liked the way the vent was integrated into the hood.

But if you like the look, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Get them and enjoy.

As to the bottom breather funneling a lot of water into the engine compartment, the times mine has been caught in the rain I did not experience a lot of water in the engine compartment.

So what kind of vents are we talking about? Center hood, fender tops, all three? The question made me do a Google search -- lot's of options have been tried out there. Some look interesting.
Some don't...

No need to worry about the rain - way more water is going to come in from the tires and under the front than through hood vents.

Ty for responding to my questions. The 3 vents are made by Trackspec. One bottom center the other two are located on the hood above fender wells. Thier around $350.00 for all three. Ty

Thank you foe resounding to my question. Thier made by Trackspec. They all together cost about $350.00. One about a third up the center of the hood then one oner each wheel wells.
