I have a 99 vette and I notice I have a hose that is connected to something under my driver side headlight, lead back to the firewall but it's plugged off. Any clues??

The air pump is mounted in that area by the left headlight. Maybe the pump doesn't function anymore and someone did a halfassed modification to the system.

Yes it's emissions related. It's a pump that injects fresh air into the exhaust stream to help to burn any unburned and partially burned fuel in the exhaust to reduce tailpipe emissions. Also referred to as a smog pump or secondary air pump.

Interestingly, that is the air pump of which I mentioned. In my own car I was having problems with the system setting codes so I had the computer tuned to delete it and removed all the components. My car still passes New Jersey inspection.
