The rear brakes were just redone. The motor and tranny have 300 miles on rebuild with receipts. Clean title.

The problems seem minor. Headlight vacuum line has a leak. The t-top headliner needs to be redone. And the interior is a bit worn.

Does this seem like a great buy? What do you think it's worth?

I did watch that, it's a very helpful video. If my post is breaking community rules, I would be happy to delete it. I'm looking for more general advice besides the things to look for. For example, does this sound like a good purchase? How long does it take to flip a corvette usually? Is 9k something I could be looking for? Is 5k a good deal?

Any advice? Trying to make some extra cash for college and own a beautiful car. I appreciate all the help, thank you!
From experience, you probably do not want to go public with what you pay for it. FWIW.

How much would that kind of thing run? You think it's a good deal?

Why's that? Public with him? I needed to know if it was worth the trip over there considering it's a 5 hour round trip.

There aren't any 79s being sold in my area. But I've seen it be sold anywhere from $7,000-$20,000..

I'm just a semi old guy with lots of worthless opinions but a general rule of thumb is not to buy a used specialty car that needs work with the desire and expectation of flipping it for a profit in a relatively short time frame. Just my 2cents.

Nothing to do with the seller. Potential buyers will probably not want to pay up for a car that you bought for a relatively low price.

If the car runs well and doesn't have frame rust it is a good deal at $5,000. My advice would be not to do the interior at first and see how you like it. You will probably be money ahead to sell as is and be content with less profit than sinking money into a complete interior if it isn't too bad to begin with. Good luck.

So the main thing is frame rust. If it does have it don't buy it? What do you think I could sell it for? How much do you think interior would cost to fix up? At the least I should probably fix the t-top.

I'm happy to put a bit of money into it if it makes more money.

If the car drove ok and most everything worked 5k is fair...not a steal but not high.
How does the suspension feel, do the gauges, heat or ac work?
Interior could easily cost you a grand or two depends..some pics would help. What it has going for it is a new drivetrain
need to drive this one for sure & do eyeball underneath for rust

Is this your car?

Not my car, but I'm doing a 5 hour round trip do buy this in a week. Heat and AC should work. The only picture of the interior had his grandkid in it, so I don't want to post it. The learther seats look a bit worn. Would it be better to leave interior as is then?

I'll check for rust on all the important parts.

Does rust=no buy?

Don't buy a C3 unless you expect to spend A LOT more than a "bit" of money. The car is almost 40 years old and it will need work. Save the money for your college education.

You seem enthusiastic and that's good but in my opinion you are buying for all the wrong reasons. There are no guarantees that you will make money and in fact most likely won't. If you want a low buck C3 to enjoy this might be the one but as a money maker look elsewhere.

You make your money on one of these when you purchase the car... IF bought right, you will make a profit. The problem is when people put too much into it thinking they will recoup it on the other end. Also, the C3s that seem to sell the best are the early and later ones. The car you are looking at has a nice color combo so that is a major plus for it. If it has some surface rust- not rot- on the frame it might be worth buying. If the body has not been damaged and put back together poorly you could make money- look closely, it has been repainted. HOWEVER, it might take awhile to "flip" that car. There were almost 54,000 '79 Corvettes built so there are a lot for sale. If you go into it with that in mind and can sit on the investment, you might make a few.

Pictures and in person two entirely different universes. Expect at least 2 K on interior just on the most common wear areas. Go online and check out parts catalogs get a idea cost of things.
