Contact Richard Fortier.
He has what you're looking for.

Richard Fortier 810 750-1472.

He makes and excellent copy of the 70 exhaust tips.
First time I saw one I thought it is was an original.

I talked to Richard last week about them, and his guy is not currently making the exhaust tips. He is trying to get him to start making them again, but he is not making them right now.

Here are what I believe are the original tips off my 1970. No part numbers on the tips. Make me a fair offer and they are yours.

I have some tips, some need work others not. It would be best if post pics of the lh tip you have so we know exactly what you are looking for. There are several variations of the tips from 70 thru 72.

All,
I looked through the tips that I have and I do not have any that do not have the weld seam on the bottom.

Ray, I just posted a pair of GM tips for sale. Unfortunately I will not separate the 659. If you are looking for the next best choice other than the originals, possibly for judging, the GM service replacements are the best choice. The tips made for Richard Fortier would be the best replacement, but they are not available and have not been for quite a while. Another choice would be to buy used tips from Grant and have them restored. The tips shown above with the cut off pipes are SS reproduction tips, not originals. The GM 659 tip is very difficult to find by itself.

None of these are like factory installed tips. Originals are one piece with no welds or seems on the rectangle part. Also no part # on them. The had a paper sticker part # on them. Richards are spot on. I have a pair on my 70 454 conv.

Thanks for the information. I learned alot from this posting. I always thought the originals had the part numbers and the welds.

ALL factory installed '70-'72 were welded. All '70 tips were welded around the back plate. Late '70s through '72 had the welded seAm on the bottom as well.
As I and Grant said; the Service replacements had the part numbers stamped.

Thanks for the information. Now I know what is correct. I always thought the originals had the part numbers on them.
