Amazon Prime for Tires
I was searching Amazon for C5 parts and discovered they have a lot of tires for the C5. Quite a selection, some of the lowest prices and free shipping with prime. Some "off brands" for 69 bucks a piece with free shipping. Check it out if you are looking for tires.

Thanks, hadn’t thought of them for tires.

I was surprised they had them and with free Prime shipping.
Search the size you need or Corvette tires and several tires come up. I never heard of the Achilles tires. At 70 bucks a piece they would be perfect for those that only put a few hundred miles a year on their cars,

That is interesting though. I've just recently been using prime and I love the guaranteed delivery dates. I would rather know something is coming tomorrow, than wonder if it's coming today or next week

I certainly would not do any extreme driving with them, but they must be safe or the lawsuits would put them out of business. Achilles has been around since 1991. Made in Indonesia.

I find it completely incongruous that we have one thread running where members are aghast that someone would consider Maaco -- which is, after all, just paint -- and another where we aren't aghast at the idea of $70 tires -- which are a direct safety item. I'm not saying the tires are NFG (not for gluing), but I'm also not aghast at the idea of a Maaco paint job.

As for Maaco, My car is not worth a $10K paint job. If the time came and I needed a paint job to get me through a few more years, I would consider Maaco. I have seen some of their work on other cars and it was as good as the factory paint. You would have to be a little crazy to put a $10K paint job on a $15K car

To quote a long time member of this site that has been ban. You can’t afford to go cheap. I have seen cheap tires that you can fold it into its self. Sorry I don’t care how cheap they are I can’t afford to put them on my car.

I agree. There are a lot of good tires that don't cost much more than the Achillies, so no reason to go so cheap it may become a safety issue...

For a C5 owner that drives a thousand easy miles a year these tires would be perfect. They would need to be replaced for age when they have 6K to 10K miles on them anyway. If I didn't drive my C5 much I would buy them.

If you recall the Goodyear fiasco from years past you would know if there was a problem with any tire... it would be all over the news. Achilles have been in business since '91 and have sold millions of tires all over the world. They partnered with Pirelli and Continental to design, engineer and build their tires. They would be out of business if there was a safety issue with them. Price does not always determine a products quality or value. Many times you pay a premium for just a name.

We typically pay a premium for anything sold for a 'Vette. Seems to be affectionately termed the Corvette Tax. Even if it fits another car, they will give it it's own part number and jack the price.........
Tire manufacturers seem to do this on OEM sized tires. Check it out sometime. Look at the price for a stock-seized replacement, then go up or down a size. You may be surprised at what you find. I don't know about Corvette tires, but other "normal" everyday cars, the price can be 50% or more less for the same manufacturer, same design, just different size.

I stated before about a tire that you could fold into it’s self. Was a tire that you would see a ton on cars that is sold by Pet-Boys. I’m sure they didn’t have a lot of problems with. Put what a garbage tire it was. The ride and handling was terrible. Another tire I could not afford to buy.
