I have this wire on the negative side of alternator it’s unplugged and I see where it’s supposed to be connected does anyone know what it’s for?

C3 of Year Finalist (appearance mods) 2019

Default What year is your Corvette?

That does not look like the original ground wire.
The alternator picks up its ground from the mounting bolts.
That wire brings a ground from the alternator to the radiator support.
The other end of that wire should connect to the radiator support, it brings a ground to the headlight and horn brackets.

Hi B,
It appears the connector and wire tail may have been cut out of the harness to make that ? (don't know what to call it).

You don't say what year your car is... photo shows 80?

Regards,
Alan

Maybe under the clip is the location the connector started it's life?

I remember someone else asking the same question a little while ago. Can't remember if anyone was able to say why it was done like that.
