There aughtta be a law.............I heard that one of my relatives got a "new" 72 C3. I was eager to hear about it, since they had previously owned a really nice 70 coupe with a well-warmed up 350. Found out today it has a 3.6L V-6 that someone switched into the car. I'm still trying to get the taste of vomit out of my mouth. I bit my tongue really hard so I would not criticize the car, since I'm stuck with the relative, but there aughtta be a law.

That's nuts.

I can almost see it on a late 70s/early 80s C3 where that modern 3.6L actually makes more horsepower, but in a '72? Crikey.

Aaack.

The 2.7L twin turbo in my F150 puts out almost as much juice as my '69 350/350...... but it doesn't belong in a 'vette

I could almost see a seriously built 4.3 in an older Corvette, since it's essentially 3/4 of a 350 in the first place. But it would need a really long fan shroud. My Prius runs good and the body is beat. Maybe I'll do that swap.

lot of guys did that during the 70s, big blocks were thrown in the trash and in went a 2bbl small block

I think it would be really cool to have that motor in my 79. I'd do that swap if it was cheap and easy.

If HP is your criteria, 72s by and large also suck. Base 72s (the vast majority of the year) only put out 200HP.

I had a Buick Skyhawk with a V6 that I used as a commuter for several years.
I pulled the motor, built it, had the heads done though in a crane cam, aluminum intake, hooker headers and a 450 Holley.
I loved blowing the doors off Corvettes, Z28's and 911 Porsche's in the late 70's.

I liked the BMW I-6 photo. I had a 525i a few years ago with that engine. Over 300K miles on the motor when I sold it and still ran like new. I wouldn't mind putting the 4.6L DOHC V-8 that my X5 has in a Vette. In mild form it makes 360 hp, but the M version makes over 500 hp. DOHC, variable valve timing, dependable fuel injection, good fuel economy. Those Germans make good engines.

Well yes, but also because it's clean and crazy, kinda like putting radial prop engine from a B-17 in an F4 Phantom.
