Default Garage Flooring

I'm going to do the floor in my garage. I looked at Race deck flooring, snap lock. Has anyone used this product?/ Or are there other ones on the market just as good??? Thanks

I am a happy Racedeck customer. Easy install, very durable (I have my 4 post stacker on top on it) looks great, and excellent customer service. My only caution is need to be mindful of the expansion - I tied it down with the lift, storage racks and other heavy stuff and it resulted in some buckling when the sun shown directly on it. Solution was to install a few ventilated tiles, which expand much less.

This stuff is less than $2/tile and you can buy just one and have it shipped if you want:
https://www.garageflooringllc.com/garage-floor-tiles/

Wife and I did our garage in a weekend, the tile is fine even with my 4 post lift on it and a bit of Simple Green and a mop cleans it right up. Whatever you use, count on putting landscape fabric underlayment down first...otherwise when you walk on that tile it'll clickety-clack like Fred Astaire on steroids.

I guess I was too brief, I was only suggesting that plain concrete would a fine option to the op's quandary.

I think the assumption here is that the garage likely already has a cement floor, not many around these days with a dirt floor.

I have my toy box carpeted with a commercial carpet.. I have built several cars on it and it still keeps the room quite and soft and warm to lay down on.

I sandblast and weld on it and the only thing that really bothered it was the plasma cutter.

I make sure that I put down some cardboard before doing something greasy.
I vacuum it often and occasionally wash and vacuum it dry. Even the worst oil spills come out with a good wash and vacuum.

There are stains of course, but it is so easy on the feet and ears that it is worth it.

I use commercial carpet too. Rubber backed squares, very tight, low loop. Quiet, warm and comfy. Big benefit is low friction - I can lie down and easily 'squirm' under the car for inspection and cleaning - no jack, no stands needed.

Frankie, Try a piece of carpet in front of your tool bench, you will like it,

Then place a large old one down temporary and notice how quiet it makes the garage.

I have Race Deck tiles in my garage and I have had it for about 10 years now. My daughter and I installed it on a Friday night and it was a fun and easy project. One thing to be mindful of - the white ones do show some discoloring over time. I am extremely careful in this garage with fluids, hot tires, etc but I still have some yellowing and some minor stains that will not come out. Overall, I have been super happy and I get compliments on it all the time.

I tried most mentioned above and have an area carpeted too BUT, with all the plastic tiles I tried you cannot jack and place jack stands on it or it severely dents, bends or cuts the plastic floor. Plywood under all of this every time was too big a hassle for me. My best friend has my Racedeck flooring in his garage now. I went with residential laminate wood flooring peel and stick together. Tough as nails, jacks are fine but still need carpet or plywood under stands. BUT, again, it will walk away with cars driving on it so you have to glue it down. Use the correct glue. Good luck.

I have a lift so rarely use jacks, when I do its on a thin piece of luan and that's all it takes to prevent denting. I can replace any individual tile in the center of my garage in about 10 minutes for $2.

Not throwing stones at anyone else's solution but the cheap tile has just worked out superbly for me and I think total cost for a 3-1/2 car garage was in the $1,500 range..

But, then, my real goal was to cover an unsightly stained and cracked concrete floor - not really to do industrial level car repairs...

Default Garage Flooring

Put Race Deck in my show car cell about 10 years ago-I hate it. I went black/white checker board and it looked great the first year, then the traffic areas became scratched/mared from just walking on it. Then the desaster when I wet mopped to clean it-water becomes stail under the tiles and smells, so now I spray cleaner and do a schuffle with a large towel. Don't put a jack stand on them-it will leave a dent/imprint of the feet of the stand. In summary, if I had it to do over-it would not be Race Deck. I would coat the concrete or I had commercial gray carpet in my last house, which worked rather well.

I am finally biting the bullet and redoing my entire garage space including the flooring. After much research I purchased Garage TRac floor tiles though bigfloors.com. You can also purchase Racedeck from them, but the Garage Trac are definitely cheaper. I have a 2 space garage with a slightly elevated workshop area. The main floor is about 18 x 19 and the workshop is 7 x 18. I originally purchased some semi industrial floor epoxy with the intention on sealing the entire floor, but after thinking about removing EVERYTHING from the garage into the driveway, resurfacing my pock marked concrete floor and then the time for the epoxy to cure, I decided to split it up and just epoxy the workshop floor which is only going to get foot traffic and occasional floor jack rolled across it. No issues with hot tire peel or lifting down the road.

I am going with the royal blue and alloy on the main floor. The workshop will be a light gray with blue, white and black paint flakes sprinkled on top. Plus, I am going with Gladiator tool cabinets in hammered granite finish and diamond plate doors, black 8 drawer Craftsman rolling tool cabinet and overhead storage racks. Tired of not being able to get around my garage with all the bikes and kids toys or worse, not being able to find my friggin tools 1/2 the time.

I will post some before and after photos of my project. Just started prepping the walls and floor this past weekend. FYI, the cost of the tiles to lay down on my 18 x 19 main floor including shipping was $775.00. Racedeck quote was about $1,400.00. I did order a sample tile from Racedeck which I will compare with the Garage Trac tiles when they arrive this Thursday.

Any questions just post here or send me a PM.

Ted

I have to add sort of a quirky observation.

The Florida lizards loved my concrete garage floor, I was fighting them out of the garage by the dozens it seemed every Saturday.

For some inexplicable reason, they do NOT like the new garage floor tile. I rarely see one anymore and if I do they are heading OUT of the garage...

Everyone is talking about the tiles. What about the epoxy/polyaspartic (spelling?) coating that people are putting down? Anyone have experience with this stuff? I know it takes longer to put down but I would think durability would be high. I'm not sure of the cost however.
I'll be doing something similar in another year or 2 (once cash is available) and was leading toward the coating stuff.
