Adding splitter & trunk spoiler to c6z?
Hey guys,
I have a 2013 c6z coming in from Orlando in about a week 100% stock 8k miles blk/blk. Finally got my new vehicle, you guys know I've been looking forever. This one is pretty much 100% what I wanted. Only one better would have been a Carbon Edition.
Will post pic/video when it gets here.
I have seen some with small splitters & a little bigger trunk spoiler and I'd like to do that.
It has to be functionally tested, but not looking for huge downforce, just a bit.
Any suggestions or please link me up if this is an old discussion. Thanks.
PS So I have owned the last year of c4/c5/c6. I will have a lot of c5 racy parts for sale soon, will sell the z16.

congrats on your new car.i just moved up to a c6z from a c5z myself.
check into the c7carbon they have an extended version of the zr1 spoiler and front splitter.it's the biggest spoiler i know of without doing a wing.
also check your valve guides for wear.even at 8k miles they can be out of spec.

Congrats!
I've had my Z for a few years now... it still amazes me every time I drive it.
But you know? I still prefer my C5 as a driver.
I gather that these are out of production, possibly from 'Spectre Works'?
It came on the car. At first I wasn't digging it, but it's grown on me!
...and thanks for the DIY posts!

Check with Katech. All their stuff was wind tunnel tested.

get a ZR1 replica splitter, the reinforcement, and the full-width GM rear spoiler if you just want to take away lift. Remove the front airdams.
Once you have the ZR1 piece, you can always add an extension.

Agreed.
I added their ZR-1 splitter and side skirts before putting on their spoiler. Almost a big mistake, don't repeat it. Car became very tail happy in high speed turns. Balance is the most important issue. Add all 3 simultaneously and I suspect you will be very pleased. I am.

Truth be told, I love the look of the FRC over the c6, but with the splitter/spoiler I think it'll grow on me.

I've seen one extremely similar in design on Extreme Dimensions website although made from duraflex for a lot less, although can't speak for the quality or fitment.
Congrats on the C6Z, I know you've searched a long time. Regarding the heads, I read at some point GM began installing GMPP version LS7 heads in the Z28 but no mention of C6Z. Also read where the problematic heads continued through C6Z production. That's my $0.02 on the heads but without absolute proof of a remedy in place I'd feel uneasy running the stockers hard on track.
What year and model Camaro did you buy..SS 1LE?

I bought the c6z. 2013. 8k miles. 3lz.
When I started the thread about splitter/spoiler, I missed one very important point/question. I REALLY need a splitter that will take a cone hit. I am actually (we keep stats) one of the cleanest drivers in the region (and I'm not bragging as that may mean I am not driving "risky" enough). But I do hit one every so often and when they are cold (even in SD) they are HARD.
The GT350's I was also looking at have a very rugged looking splitter, looks like a hard rubber material, not sure.
So you guys that are sharing, if you include your opinion and/or knowledge of how tough these splitters are that will definitely be a factor. Not to mention the friggin speed bumps and driveway slopes to deal with.
Thanks!
