Bad night when a kid turned directly in front of me, Hoping it can be fixed ok and I need to know how much to ask for diminished value from his insurance co. He was totally at fault and admitted it.

Rule of thumb on DV is 20% to 25% of the cost of repair.

Sorry to hear, be great if it's only cosmetic, fix may not be inexpensive but it would be quick. Assuming, GM can supply parts in a timely manner.

Almost always another's fault it seems w/ a precious few exceptions.
Corvette owners are the safest drivers out there considering what our azzes are wrapped with.

Good luck with the repair! A lot of people assume diminished value is a straight price. If it is even allowed in your state you'll be dealing with his insurance company in multiple letters. Eventually you will have the option of taking their deal or taking them to court. You'll have to get your car valued once its fixed and they should know how much value you lost. Some insurance companies will argue that "panel replacement" is cosmetic and not give you anything. My car had $7500 of damage to its right side (07 Chevy Impala SS) and I received about $3k back from the insurance company but I had to pay $350 for the 3rd party estimate.

Default Dimished value

Get a certified dimished value appraiser. My 17 Silverado was rear ended by a young man. $14,000 in damage to my 6 month old truck. Nationwide paid me $5300 in dimished value with a $300 apprasial...didn't hurt he used to work with Allstate and Nationwide before selling cars and doing apprasials.

Your headlight is “broken”. Lol. You need them to replace the lenses on both of them. If you ever thought about black headlights now a good opportunity to switch.

I’m saying if his lenses are pitted / scratched up then he needs to have the lenses replaced. Then have both done and have the insurance pay for it.

That's what I'd do. Otherwise, you'll be looking up values of "your Corvette" as it was before the accident, and trying to interpolate its value now that it's been damaged. In other words, you will be doing some relatively complicated work. And need to justify everything against an insurance co. that probably would rather give you Zero. Good luck.

Worst part is going to be color match on any painting that needs done. Sorry to see that. We all have that fear every time we get behind the wheel. Sucks.

That hard of an impact and the air bag is still intact? Easy fix and a qualified body shop should have no problem with the color match. I know, 67U machine silver.

OK repair bill from adjuster is at $5000 but they admit more to come possibly when torn apart, this does not include headlight. it has a minor scuff at the very bottom that they may be able to buff out and they agreed to all OEM parts. Dealer said most times insurance won't replace both headlights if one is broken, they only have 2 or 3 of the small heat cracks in them so it may not be a fight that I want to start if they have to replace one,
Also the inside of the light is painted the same blue as the car, They come sealed from the factory I believe so I can imagine the lead time on getting a light painted Carlisle blue that they only made 1 year, I may be wrong on the light though
Time to go have a drink, This is too nerve wracking
