GM's assembly photos
It seems like GM takes hundreds of digital photos during the assembly process of each Corvette they build. Assuming they do so for every other car they make, what do you suppose they do with those millions of photos every year? Make calendars, maybe?

Where did you come up with this info? All the times I have toured the Corvette plant I have never seen any photos being taken? You can buy a photo book of your car being built from the Corvette Museum but that is on hold until 2019

I saw it watching "How It's Made: Dream Cars". The cameras seem to document every single detail of the build. And then there are the code readers.........

#1 - Thanks for the info on that episode - I just watched it online and it was neat to see how the newer corvettes are made. Very cool! I did the tour when the C5's were being built and it is a lot different now.
#2 - That being said, there was not a reference of hundreds of digital photos being taken. There was a video camera recording all the time, but I think that was put in place by the Science Channel for this episode - I don't think those cameras are there all the time.
Maybe I missed it...

It seemed like a lot of the cameras were used in the engine building stage. A shot of the pistons after installation, another of the con rods after torquing, etc. I imagine those shots are compared to a master, then discarded if it all matches up. But, I'd still buy a calendar if they made one.

May have been and I missed it - I did not know (until I watched this episode) the engines are built in the Tonowanda plant.
I agree on the calendar - I'd buy each year if they offered it

Photos are taken at certain points in the build process for those who order the build album from the National Corvette Museum. This program is on hold and not available until again until sometime in 2019. There are not hundreds of photos taken of every Corvette that is built.

Come to think of it, I may have seen the cameras being used when they were building the engine in the "Camaro" episode. I assume it's the same program for the 'Vette engines.
