What exhaust is on my car and how to make it louder?
Hello everyone I have a 2006 C6 base model Corvette that I recently acquired. It came with an axle-back Borla exhaust but I cant figure out which one it is? Anyone know?
Also what is the cheapest way to make it louder without losing the deep roar that the Borla currently has?
Thank you everyone!!

I've not looked at a Borla system installed on a Corvette up close, but I had a Borla catback system on my Mach-1 Mustang and it had the part number stamped into it. Maybe yours does too? If no one here identifies it, I expect sending those photos to Borla would work.

Can't help with the type of borla exhaust.
Cheapest way to make it louder is remove the resonators. You're in california, so that car should have 4 on them. However, people got recalled on corvettes in CA to add 2 more resonators on them (initially only have 2) so you will fail smog if your car comes up w/o having that recall done.

Adding a set of long tube headers surely would make it louder

Soo removing the cats will make it louder but will also fail smog unless you take it to someone and do it under the table.
While this method is a pain in the *** when smog comes around, it's probably the cheapest option still than buying headers + install + tune

As noted, its the older stinger tour type mufflers.
If you want loud, then you want the new Borla Atak mufflers.

Headers with high flow cats make any muffler system about 4 times as loud. Hence it not only the headers, but the delete of the OEM cats to high flow cats after the header collects part of the differeance. Hence the oem cat acts like another muffler in line, while high flow cats, not so much instead.
OP, the reason you want high flow cats with Headers, is so the car is not stinking of un-burnt fuel every stop light. As for the high flow cats, only robs you about 4hp, and well worth the few HP loss so the car is not stinking of unburnt fuel isntead. Hence gets bad when you are sitting at a stop light and the inside cabin reeks of un-burnt fuel as well.

Correct: for 2005-2008 only, and they were "Stringers" part #140128 I had them put on my 08 and love them. Borla now has two other S Types that will fit on vettes from 2005-2013,but they changed the inlet and outlet pipe size and the tips are different.

doomi: They had the round tips and the oval tips.Tne Stingers on my 08 were on my 07,in the later years Borla changed the pipe size. The OD pipe size to my oval tips are 2.5" and a few years ago Borla went to 2" OD to the tips...Why??
