MOST automakers update their cars performance or do something to make them more appealing every couple years.

Now other than the '15 getting the A8 I mean what has really changed in the Vette from '15-'19? They look the same and have the same power, nothing that really makes you say "wow I need an '18 over a '16

Maybe this is why sales lack and people have a hard time selling their 2 year old vettes for an ok price

17+ z06s (according to GM) have less cooling issues. I have a 18 z06 2lz with PDR and the only issue I have is with the paint but they are sending me a new factory painted bumper.

I went through this same dilemma this past February on a new 2016 A8/2LT Stingray w/PDR vs same config new 17/18/19. Difference was USD $10k on 2017 (they pushed hard), $18k on 2018 (meh, no push) and $18k on 2019 (zero push, but fought them on markup). I bought the new 2016.

The ability to get what you want vs what they have left. At least two more years of warranty. It’s new, not used or having sat for two years... lots of reasons.

Along with that 2 years newer thread, resale goes into that (assuming one sells/trades it).

Really that should be 18 vs. 14. The new C7s are just about exactly the same as my 14 vert. The look is almost identical.

They didn't make a '16 Grand Sport. When I bought my Grand Sport, the only 2017 used ones had asking proices more than the forum vendors new car prices on 2018s. plus, I get to go to Spring Mountain.

The C6 had a mid model refresh in 08 and upped the HP-surprised the C7 did not have any hp boosts in the base model to differentiate the 14s from the 19s and spur on sales.

The C7 looks 99% the same way it has since the 2014 model year.

While there have been some minor changes, the same car that's coming off the line today is not really different then the ones that started coming off the line in late 2013.

There are many choices of models and options, to offer something to everyone. There's no right or wrong choice, just what's best for you.

I expected a HP increase for 2018. Was surprised when nothing happened. Also, I think you're right. An HP increase would have resulted in more demand for the newer C7s. A lot of us thought that at least the GS would have received an HP increase, but that didn't happen. My plan was to find out what the cost would be to upgrade my 2014 when the HP increase happened and if my extended GMEPP warranty would be valid if Chevrolet did the work. But, no need as no HP change occurred.

I know there was an enhancement to the cameras on the 18s...perhaps something to do with the radio/sound system as well - HD?...if never put in service I guess you'd still have a warranty for three years and the oil changes...but if used then you are probably out of luck on both of those...definitely the wheels have changed from 18/19s on base models to 19/20s - if that matters to you...MRC would need a re-flash to get the new settings.

If I was shopping for a new Corvette why would I want a 2016 if I could get a 2018. That really is the question.

I think the build quality gets a little better with each passing year and more electronic gremlins are fixed. I don't see much complaining about the creaking/popping sounds coming from the tops anymore which was my big complaint on my 2016.

The answer to your question (following the OP's line of thinking), would be pricing. That is assuming you don't require a GS.

On 9/29/17, I purchased a "hard loaded" '16 3LT Stingray w/A8....for $53.5k (stickered for $78k). I'd been looking for the "great deals" on closeout '17's but all the "deals" were on base equipped 1LTs. A 2LT would've satisfied me, but would also have cost $10k more (for one equipped like I wanted).

My car's in service date is 9/29/17 so my warranty is the same as the '17 or '18s. Again, following the OPs thinking (and eliminating the desire for a GS), what would I have really gained with the newer model?

I have to admit, I'm a little disappointed with the short production year of the '18s (making mine already a model year older), but I have no plans to sell it quickly. And, it was late build so I wasn't so much concerned with the prior A8 troubles.....however, I did buy, and use, a Range Technology AFM disabler.

It's an individual choice, of course, but I see by other posts, it's a decision others have made. With winter just about over (and only 900 miles on the clock), I still feel good with the purchase.

I was shopping for a new Corvette and bought the new 2016 over the new 2018 (and 2019). Zero visual, mechanical or technical difference, except a $18k savings. B2B Warranty started the day I bought it Feb 2018.

For someone wanting a Stingray, there really isn't much difference between the model years. Outwardly, the wheels have changed and maybe a color or two (w/ red and white being so popular they remain unchanged across the model years). Other than that not much.

I had been a proponent of getting the newer car for resale or trade-in value, but after comparing the price drops between years on trade-in and resale value, paying thousand$ more for a newer one will not yield a significant return on the backside.

I'd wager that when the C8 hits showrooms, we will see a big shift in the market and the desirability for the newest model.
