Default The Autoextremist says the C8 will be within $10,000 of the C7

On Autoline After Hours this week the Autoextremist (Peter Delorenzo) said that the C8 will be within $10,000 of the C7. "Everyone is going to be amazed at what they have done with that car in terms of pricing". Go to 59 minute point.

Absolutely agree the price will be near the C7.
Everyone thinks of an ME and immediately slaps an Exotic price tag on it while not realizing it isn't the ME chassis that drives the high price of Exotics north.

It will be interesting to see how the dealers react. How do you stock c7's, when the hottest car on the planet in the auto press is going to be the c8?

That would be nice (as far as pricing goes). This could be interesting....

Outstanding, I believe most of us were coming to that same conclusion so this is reassuring. Frankly, I think it might be tough selling my C7 when the C8 comes out. Tough as in no one will want to buy it, or do you think there will still be individuals interested in buying used C7’s?

You'll be able to sell your car, you may just not be happy with the price.
The ME will not be for everybody, the pics posted here look to me like the the design compromises storage space (I hope not) - but that's a consideration for those that want to tour with the car. Many here have speculated that GM will continue to build both a FE and ME for a few years.

I think GM is going to flex their volume muscle to produce an incredibly performing car for a price point far below the exotics it is competing with. And frankly that always been the mission of the Corvette. Only now it won’t get the qualifier “Its the best Corvette yet” because it will finally get the right mechanical bits.

Not sure where you getting your information from? Back in March of last year there was a 267 day supply of Corvettes in inventory.
http://www.corvetteblogger.com/2017/...er-stockpiles/
Then Chevrolet closed the plant for 90 days and in Q4 offered employee pricing. So now the inventory level is 160 days. The optimum level is 60 days.

Told you so !! "Base price is $65-69K". Peter is also right about the DOHC 4.2L TT engine also - Corvette will get its own tuned version, (with a much better looking top cover !!), because Cadillac does NOT build engines, GM does.

Johan doesn't really understand the new company he works for, but he wants to sell Cadillacs.

GM is not so stupid as to significantly increase the MSRP of a car with a business model that has worked for 60+ years.
It ain't gonna happen.

The Corvette has been one of GM's Crown Jewels for many decades.
There is no way they want to jeopardize that.

With the radical change of the C8, and assuming the pricing is competitive wth C7's, I would expect to see the prices for all C7's take a hit because there are going to be a significent number of C7 owners trading in to get the newest and flashiest of the line.

A FE C8 would mean GM is rolling out 2 new corvettes? That doesn't seem to make sense.

The ME is coming as a 2020 MY; many believe the new FE C8 (which will basically be a C7 refresh though with such new things as new front and rear fascias, new hood, some new electronics and interior changes, and hopefully 500 HP), will not be out until 2022 or perhaps 2023.
