Default ZR1 A8 hot lap new video

(just some random video of another)

this video should give an indication on what to expect from the ZR1’s A8 not sure what to make of it opinions? Definitely seems snappier.

Which begs the question.. Is the ZR1 A8 worth trading in a Z06?

Thank you for that, Charles.
Hard to say how hard TK was pushing, but it seemed fairly stable...and that's a good thing.

The shifting seems faster and more responsive. It may be the same A8 but maybe a better tune.

Gives a good view of that monster hood NOT obstructing the view.
ZR firmly planted and hitting those corners

Default ZR1 at Exotic Racing

It would have been a better video if they had some of the lap shown on the PDR screen. Having driven Mercedes SL AMG, Aventador, 458 on that track (Exotic Racing), it would have been nice to compare straightaway speed. (not lap times, I'm no TK)
A8 shifting seems very similar to our '17 Z06 A8.
FWIW, the shifting is far better than Aventador.

I was going to say the exact opposite, I was disappointed by the A8 in this video. There is a lot of good video where you can see Tony's hands and notice the delay especially on the Downshift, I see no improvement over the ZO6 A8, but then again I'd have to drive one to make any conclusions.

No improvement on the A8. Downshifts are still terrible and seem to take an eternity on executing the driver's commands.

What head and neck restraint system were they wearing? I saw a Simpson helmet but am not sure of the H+N device.

Thanks

Auto"s will always be for the street cruisers. If you track you always want manual.Auto will be overheating as the Z06 did mark my words.

Looks like the Simpson Hybrid S:

To my knowledge it's the only head and neck restraint that will work with OE 3-point seatbelt systems.

All other HANS devices require harness system shoulder belts.

The car is wicked fast for a stock factory car. Shifts fast, handles great.

I assume you are excluding DCTs and sequential gearboxes (such as the one in the C7R).

This car is begging for a DCT. I don't know why Chevy is putting off making one.

Packaging issues and the enormous cost of having a DCT fit in the current structure and handling excess of 650lb ft of torque down low.
