Got my new (2003) C5 today!
I bought my manual C5 at an online auction sight unseen taking a chance on a good price. I was able to drive it to my mechanic's shop 200 miles away from the auction house without any issues. Score!
It's a black 2003 with the memory package and HUD, 47k miles. Pics below.
While making the trek back home I noticed a few things were wrong such as hearing a weird rattle in the drivetrain when I turn the ignition off and when starting in first gear while my wheel is turned. I also need to replace the passenger side window motor, climate control fan blower motor (makes noise), adjust the shifting linkage (a bit loose but drivable), and remove the awful tint on the rear window which disrupts visibility (bubbles over the defroster lines).
Despite these little issues that will be worked out in the coming days I'm happy to be the new owner of a C5 and I gotta tell you I haven't smiled this much while driving for a very long time!
Love that front end

That is normal. I think there is even a name for it................something like a can of marbles.

I fixed my window motor by pulling the door panel and whacking the motor with a rubber mallet. Seems like they don't get exersized enough and hitting the motor moves the armature enought to make it work again. Nice car!

Congrats on the 03 from another 03 owner. Mine also had a few issues that I was able to correct. Leaking power steering hose, read out for the Temperature control not working, Getting the 1214 on the codes for Active handling/ABS. But at 109,324 miles when bought it so really expected more than that. Oh, light oil leaks but not touching that.

I have the same rattle when taking off at low rpm and if I shut the car off with the clutch in. Everyone and the two dealers I went to say its normal. My first GM performance car and it just seems a bit ratty to say its normal. Ah well. Congrats on the car. It is A LOT OF FUN.

If the rattle is while idle standing still, it's the clutch throwout bearing. Mine was rattling when I bought it two years ago w/6k on the odo. It's normal.
