67 brake booster dilemma
I'm in the process of restoring my 67 which I have (summer) driven since I purchased the car in 1987. Now working on the brake system which was working fine when I disassembled the car. But upon closer inspection of the power booster, you can see what I assume to be the silencer foam at the rear, completely disintegrated. I know its at least 30 years old but is that normal?
There was also traces of brake fluid on the front cup seal. So its possible some oil has leaked in and possibly contaminated the diaphragm.
The number on the booster is 5801, I can't find any reference for that number but I know its not correct for a 1967, should be 5867.
I'm assuming cleaning, paint, and install of new seals and boot is not enough, but going through the trouble of full rebuild on this booster doesn't seem to make sense to me.
I hate scrapping any old car part but at this point I'm thinking new correct 5867 made in USA booster is best option.
Any thoughts?

I would not rush to change it without further research, have you checked to see what other booster part #'s end with 5801.
Post a few pictures of the complete booster and someone may see something different than a known original part.
