Default What fluid for power steer C3

Hi,

Fortunately I had no issue takkng the cap of the reservoir. Less fortunately the reservoir is empty or at least way down...
What fluid/oil is needed?

THX.

Any quality PS fluid will do. I like Prestone but that is just personal preference.

I guess the first question is , what did you have in the system to start with.

Transmission fluid ? or Power steering fluid ? Both can be used, but I don't think they mix well.

If the color is Red then It is most likely Transmission fluid, if clear / yellowy then Power Steering fluid.

I agree. Your high pressure hose may be leaking. They usually are the culprit. Lucas makes a leak stop additive but it's only an additive, not meant to replace the power steering fluid. Best bet is to replace the hose.

I went to the local auto shop. They checked their computer for make model year and application. It said ATF D2 mineral. So that is what I bought.
When refilled will keep an eye on level and leaks.
