Default Numbers built.

Please might someone know where I could go or who could tell me some Production figures on 72 LT-1? Firstly how many coupes were made? and secondly how many were made with Pewter silver exterior and red interior? I am yet to see another in this color combination and I have looked all over. Please might someone be able to assist, Thank you.

That is 1741 from a total production of 27004, so total 1741 coupes and convertibles were LT-1, somewhere I read 399 were convertibles and I also read that 59 LT-1 were painted Elkhard green, not sure if that is 59 convertibles were painted Elkhard green or both coupes and convertibles.

Hi LR,
Folks ask your question often.
But Chevrolet didn't keep any records of production 'combinations', so there isn't an actual answer to your question.
What is usually done is an estimate is made using the individual known production total percentages and an answer is arrived at by interpralation.
Sorry!
Regards,
Alan

People "guess" using Extrapolation which is using the known number and applying some percentage against it. 6.45% of Corvettes built in 1972 had the LT1 option. So, saying that 1322 (6.45%) of the '72 coupes were LT1s and 420 were roadsters is only a guess. You can do the same with colors and other options to do estimates. One number that is constantly used is the 240 for '72 LT1 A/C coupes. It may be 500 or higher since A/C became a popular option that was not available prior. How did I Guess that? If A/C was introduced as an option for the LT1 at the beginning of Feb. then it was in the middle of the production of 27004 units.
50% of the total production would be 13500. of that 76% were coupes which is 10250. 6.44% were LT1s which is 660. 63% of '72s had A/C which would be 416 LT1s with A/C without the wow factor. All Guessing.

Hello Toylman, Well that all seems a bit of a stab in the dark, Thank you, Gets a bit more complicated to find numbers for Pewter silver LT1 cars with red interior, the only other same combination I have seen is a 454 BB and I have seen Pewter Silver cars with black and Saddle interior. So my guess is very few LT1 cars had this color combination, I have been searching for many months now and I have not found another, perhaps less than 10 LT1 with this color combination. Cheers Toylman.

Yes Lloyd, I would agree that that combination is rarely seen, but beside that, it is a really nice and very collectible color combination. I would not worry about numbers.
