Default New Tires...

Hi all
got new tires today on my C6 vert...my normal guy couldn’t mount for me today so I had to go to mavis (which I was quite unhappy about)...so for $80 they do it...all seems good no scratches or anything...

get on on the highway and notice my steering wheel vibrating now at 60+. Haven’t tested it out much yet since new tires have to be broken in a bit especially on a car like this but what do I do?

slapping myself for going to mavis now. Car never had this problem before with 11 year old OEM tires

bad balancing job?

Hope they didn't bend your wheels..... I got new tires on mine this weekend as well. Last company that installed tires bent every wheel...

I'm surprised Mavis was able to do it. I took my C6 vert to Mavis and they told me my car was too low for their lift.

Take it to a REPUTABLE shop that does Corvettes and have them balance the tires.Call around and ask which shop has a HUNTER BALANCER those are the best.

So you have this great Corvette and you want things done right and you're complaining about spending $100.00 for a quality job? Really, I give up!

the point is I think the place who did the job should be held accountable to do it properly

Doesn't sound like the place that did the job knows what they're doing! I wouldn't take my car there again.

My read on this is that he's complaining about spending another $100.00. to have the same work done, that would bother me too, I would just go back to Mavis and tell them to re-balance your wheels, if they screwed anything up give them the chance to make it right, and if they can't ask for your installation money back then go somewhere else. Before getting all excited it is entirely possible that it is only a faulty balanced wheel, If they bent your wheels or wheel you really don't want anyone else taking your tires off to rebalance and check as you can guarantee that Mavis would put the blame on whomever did that work, and i wouldn't blame them. I just bought tires for my truck at Mavis and for some reason a few days later the TPMS sensor started acting up when i went back they took the truck in and re learned the system, and they were very easy to deal with. I have no complaints with Mavis hopefully you will have the same experience.

Why even ask if you're not going to listen.

Everyone is saying "Mavis" like we should know what or who it is, never heard of it
Anyways I found that when I got new tires (Discount Tires) and had them "road force balanced" it solved any problems, so that's what I would suggest
Good luck

I never heard of new tires needing to be "broken in a bit."

So much interesting stuff in this thread so far.

Take it back to the place that did the work. **** happens, have them rebalance the tires. It could be a bad tire, too, not unheard of.
