Got MGW? Make it better!
The MGW with the solid shaft did not work for me. Throw was too short, effort too high, the lever adapter offsets the shaft either to the front or to the rear, .... and it started to bother my 65yr old wrist as there was NO cushion going into gear. My solution was to modify an OE shaft (made it considerably shorter) and mate it to the MGW box with an adapter that puts the shaft back on center with the box. Throws are a little longer (so what?) .... but effort is lower and there is a slight cushion. I also added one washer to the detent. Also switched to a C4 ****. Perfect setup for me. Love it now!
Here are a couple pics.

Well done! Like you, I couldn't stand the "to-the-rear-and-left" position of the MGW lever adapter that came on my shifter. Not only was the position uncomfortable, but it just looked so awkward. My shifter and **** not being centered in the console shifter hole drove the OCD in me crazy.
I took the easier route, however, and simply ordered an MGW shifter adapter for a Mustang GT500, which both centered and raised my shift lever. Soooo much more comfortable now, and slighter longer throws, which feels more natural.

Did you try the washer before with the mgw before modding it? I'm very happy with my MGW and 2 washers.
With what you prefer I think you would like a newer C6 Z06 top modified with a shorter shaft and a MGW bottom. No one makes this. Hell now I want it.

I could make the shafts pretty easily if anyone wants to trust me to do the mod. Ha!

Nice solution to the problem you were having with the MGW shifter. Well done.

After reading this I’m assuming the MGW shifter is adjustable so I could put the know further away since now it’s on the rear side of the shifter mount? I feel
like it’s too close for my liking right now.

That depends on what you consider to be "adjustable". You did see what I had to do in posts 4 and 5, right?
