Anyone also have a Jeep Wrangler?
I'm looking at getting a second car. Ok, to be honest, I'm missing my SUV and I'm looking at the wrangler unlimited to fall back on.
Any C7 owners here who also have a Jeep? If so, I'm looking for feedback on reliability and how often you actually drive it.

I retired to Florida last month and I'm looking for a Wrangler as a 4th car. I'm checking out used and see very high miles on most which tells me they are getting used. I'm also considering a lease. The residual value is soooo high, the lease is pretty cheap. I just want on to drive on the beach so it won't see a lot of miles.

I also have a Jeep Wrangler. I had it before the Corvette, actually. Mine is not an unlimited, it is the two door version (My preference). I drive it all the time and it has been extremely reliable. Actually, you wouldn't know to look at it, but it has approximately 200k miles on it. The 6 cyl engines are pretty much bullet proof and the only repairs have been along the lines of fuel pump and starter motor - very inexpensive. It is great in the winter and also in the summer with the top off. It is a really fun vehicle.

Have had several in the last few years. 2012 Sahara Unlimited, 2014 *****’s, and a 2015 sport unlimited with 4 1/2 lift on 35’s. All had zero issues.

I have a 2013 Freedom Edition, also a two-door, M6. Just shy of 44K miles. Only time its been to the dealer was for a couple recalls. My driving is pretty much weather-dependent. If its nice, I'm in the Vette, otherwise I'm in the Jeep. Like others have said, quite fun for a large vehicle, and the V6 is surprisingly peppy. It's a lot more fun driving than the pair of Tacomas I had before it.

My wife drives a 2006 unlimited. Amazing fun factor, especially when rock-climbing with the top down. This actually motivated me to get the convertible. But on reliability, meh. Maybe we ordered the money-pit option without realizing...

I always had to have one. I am an off-road person. It's a Jeep thing, you don't understand! LOL.
Having a Corvette and a Jeep make best of both worlds. I use the Corvette for what it was intended to do. Fun to drive, spirited driving, occasional track, weekend trips, and wave at other Corvettes. I use the Jeep for what it was intended to do. Fun to drive, off-road to the ranch, tow, fish, beach, sand dunes, ski, mud, bike, rescue missions, wave at other Jeeps.
Answering OP questions, I drive my Jeep more than my other cars, including the Vette. Answering reliability, my last 3 were:
2007 (first year of JK). Bought new. Bad Jeep. Well I abused it a lot. Engine was the old 3.8 inline 6. Under powered. 3-4 recalls mostly ended in more serious problems. After 3 years traded for next Jeep with $0 out of pocket.
2010 JK bought new. Bad Jeep. Same old 201 hp under powered engine, but with better rear end ratio. 2-3 recalls. I abused this Jeep too. Both diffs started leaking after 2 months of use. Transfercase developed grinding noise. In my book it was an unreliable Jeep. After 3 years traded for the next Jeep with $0 out of my pocket.
2013 JK bought new. 295 hp Pentastar (60 degrees V6) and new ergo interior. Much better than before. Good Jeep! Has one strike which I recently mentioned in other thread (battery connector was loose off factory, caused flashing CEL misfire etc) But I found the problem and fixed it. Not the dealer. Has 1 Takata passenger airbag recall which I am lazy to take care of. 5 year of ownership and no intention to sell/trade for new JL.
Hope it helps. Good luck.

- My Jeep is customized to my need. Nothing more, nothing less. Everytime I changed JK I moved my mods to the new one. If I switch to JL those mods will not work.
- No 2 door JL avail yet.
- Can not justify paying on top of my Jeep to upgrade to JL.
- This is a Jeep. The ultimate utility vehicle. Does not have to be latest and greatest. This will do what JL can do just fine.
You are a Jeep person. You understand.

JL is also a nice Jeep. I like everything about it. Short answer, yes, I like what I have.

I owned a 2016 JK for one short year. Zero issues with it. Loved driving it around town. With the rock guards on the sides it was almost impossible to get a door dent so you could park it anywhere and not worry. Unfortunately we were up to 4 vehicles in a 2 person household so traded it in on a F150. Still miss it.
I'll get another at some point down the road and it will be another 2 door.
