Fat Burnout Advice
G'day fellow Corvette guys.
So I am planning on doing a good old american burnout in the next few days. I just had a question or two regarding how to go about this.
Having previously done a handful in the burnout box at the drag strip I'm pretty familiar on how to go about doing one.
I was wondering, what type of fluid I should go about putting down in order for the most slip/smoke possible (maybe a bit of oil and diswasher soap right?). It will be done most likely in the middle of nowhere with your regular tarmac surface. Not trying to completely melt my tires but ill make sure its a good one. Any advice is welcome.

Water will do it, but if you want it really slick bleach/water mix would work.

I thought burnouts were a spur-of-the-moment thing. If I have to think about it...forget it. Mmm....just don't do it in front of the town's Barney Fife.

You did not say what trans you have , but if it is an auto and my memory is correct, for an auto trans, you need to use "S" and manually downshift to first because the autos start in second normally. Never wanted to do burnouts after finding out the price of the back tires and low mileage they get.

Very different from my last mustang gt where I could easily spin the wheels starting in 2nd gear, let alone 1st.

Also, the first press of the tcs button that says "tcs off" is ego builder mode. The tcs is not off at all in that mode, it just males drivers feel like they did a good job controlling the car. To turn tcs off actually you have to hold the button.

Actually, just tap it twice for Competition driving mode. This turns TCS off but leaves stability control on just enough not to ruin the fun but enough to prevent you from ending up in a tree.

at the time of my high school graduation ( 1981 ), it was tradition ( of the "car" guys anyways ), to do a big burnout in front of the school.
the media of choice was ATF. if you're looking for smoke, a lot of smoke, this is a tried and true method ( also allows for minimal tire wear ).
otherwise, turn off traction control & light 'em up!

I'm just going to leave this here for you to consider. Burnout can quickly turn to wheel hop and grenade a diff.

BTW ... This is straight from the owner's manual:
______________________
While the Manual Paddle Shift gear selection system
is active, the transmission will automatically downshift
through the gears as the vehicle slows. The transmission
will select second gear as the vehicle stops. From a stop,
the vehicle will start from and hold second (2) gear unless
the driver manually paddle shifts into a different gear or
selects DRIVE (D). The driver can select first (1) gear for
maximum acceleration from a stop.
