Headlight Lens and Corvette Emblems
This past weekend I installed my emblems which were in bad shape and I also replaced the headlight lens! A big thank you to Robert at RLSEBRING.
Here are some pics old vs new. Tell me what you all think ?

How difficult were the lenses to replace? I have to do this soon and for some reason, it seems like a big deal to do at home.

I had a really good auto body shop to replace the headlight lens. Alot of other shops did not want to touch this job. It took them approximate a 10hrs. It is PIA you have to remove your bumper and you have to be very careful when removing the headlight unit.

Funny cause I also need new emblems since my car was hit front and rear. Those bastards (repair shop from previous owner crash) put on the same stock emblems and they are crack damaged.

Do you know the pricing they charged? I need new lens o ly on left side but for both I wouldn't mind. I know it's a pita and takes hours. I dont think I would do it.

The headlight lens you can get at C6C7Vette.com I think they are a vendor on the forums. Approximate $310.00 for the pair!
Corvette Emblems are not cheap but they are OEM parts and really thick in material and dont get the cheap ones on Amazon. Go to CorvetteMods rear is $107.00 and front $62.00
Good Luck

No way! Just bought mine on e-bay and they ship from Cultrag. $41.95 for the front, the rear was close to that.

You got hosed if you paid $107 for an emblem. I’d return it & buy 3 for that price

Jab, you must've had the easier adhesive on the lens. The lens I picked up had the "bad" stuff and it took me HOURS to remove.

There were two types of sealants that they used on the C6. I believe the gray color one is supposed to be easier than the black. Mine had the black sealant and I would reheat it constantly to the point of the headlight bucket getting soft... and it still took me forever.

Protecting lenses....
Any good ideas for protection of headlight lenses? Would it be possible to paint them with several coats of gloss Plasti-Dip for instance which would protect against road dust, fine sand etc. and yet be able to be peeled off easily.
Would a UV protectant like 303 be the right thing to protect against sunlight deterioration?
Your thoughts appreciated as this is an expensive repair......potentially facing us all.
Thanks

You do not have to remove the bumper to get the headlights out - it can be done very easily by removing the bolts that hold the fenders on & the 4 on top of the front fascia. The lights come out very easily & I even put them back in myself with no help. Replacing the lenses is not that difficult using the oven bake method & my lenses came off after 10 min at 225. No way I would pay $550 or even $100 to replace the lenses. 10 hours is ridiculous - the whole process of removing my headlights, removing the lenses, painting the buckets, putting the lenses back on & re-installing back in the car took maybe 5 hours. Most of that was painting & letting paint dry. Replacing lenses should take 2 hours.
They way you explained sounds easy. The bodyshop was not happy cause it took there guy the entire day as they had a hard time removing the lens.
I have also notice any mods to my car cost alot more in the East coast.
