Ignition key problem,
I have a bit of a problem with my 88 in that I can't get the key to go into the lock position and therefore I can't remove the key from the ignition.
The problem started when I inserted the wrong key into the ignition and it wouldn't come out. Then I sort of forcibly removed the key from the ignition and now I have the problem with the correct key.
It's a 4 + 3 manual and yes it's in reverse. Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have a FSM? Kind of sounds like the pins in the cylinder are out of whack. If you or a locksmith can't fix it then it sounds like it's time for a new cylinder. If you don't want to work with the wiring for the vats system, there are dongles that bypass that part of the system so it doesn't have to read the resistor on the key any more.

Well I solved the problem today. It seems that I broke the **** off the column end of the cable that prevents the key being removed from the lock in any gear except reverse.
I've disconnected the cable at both ends and can now remove the key in any gear.
