Bad dealer experience @ 500 mile oil change.
Took to a local dealer in Arlington - have done business with them in the past, and have even purchased new corvettes from them and had them serviced there, although they were not C7's. Set up an appt with them two weeks out to get the 500 mile oil change done. Arrived promptly at my appointment time, and was told this would take about an hour. Hour and 15 minutes later, the service writer comes up to me and says....we don't have enough in stock to refill it. He said that apparently for 2019, GM increased the capacity from 7 qts to 10 qts and they only had 7 qts in stock, that they would have to send someone out to get some more. Frustrated, I told him just to bring the car back around and I would bring it back when they got the oil in stock. Problem was, they had already drained the oil....OK, how long will it take. He said he didn't know that he would get me as soon as they were finished. Hour later, he comes out, still no oil..he didn't know how long it was going to take nor where it would be coming from. He said that he can't believe that GM would change the capacity and not tell him. I told him that I wasn't tying to tell him is business, but the Grand Sport has never used just 7 quarts of oil, and he should know that. That I had given them a two week lead time that I was coming in and they had plenty of time to make sure they had the parts in stock to service my car. I then asked him, "if you don't know, or keeps the parts in stock, how do you expect to service the Grand Sports you have for sale on the lot? Not a peep, he just lowered his head and went back to his office. 4 hours later, I pull out of the dealership. Now, does anyone have any personal experience and can recommend a dealer in the South DFW area?

For reference 10 qt will overfill a dry sump system. Have them install 9 qt and give you the tenth quart so you can adjust the level. The consensus seems to be setting level in the middle of the dipstick add / full range.

I took my MacMulkin purchased 2018 GS to Stonebriar Chevrolet in Frisco, TX. I asked them all the standard questions prior to service regarding jack pucks, type of oil, dry sump filling and they understood my concerns and assured me their Corvette techs knew the proper maintenance techniques. Seemed to go well, no overfill, and it included a complimentary hand wash. Classic Chevrolet in Grapevine is a top 50 Corvette dealer, you would think they know how to service a Corvette properly. And, they are located closer to Arlington than Frisco is. Good luck!

Thanks Ron - I did bring that to their attention, and he disagreed and said no, it's 10 quarts. Told him that just an hour ago, he thought it was only 7 quarts. They put about 9.5 quarts in and gave me the remainder of the bottle.

PS: I have done all my own oil changes in my 2014 Z51 and Grand Sport. I put in 9 quarts and it's slightly above the MIN level. That is all GM says is needed and to add a quart if it is at the Min level. I add about a 1/2 quart more until the level is half way in the hatched area, which is where I keep it. As it clearly says in the 4 volume Service Manual, oil volumes in a table are only an estimate. Check the level, which is what is important. Have been doing than for ~60 years of changing oil in wet and dry sumps.
Asking to have it filled with 9 quarts and give you the 10th is good enough. Then when you get the car home it will be easier to see the level on the dip stick as the new oil will mix with oil left in the rocker arms, pockets in the heads and lifter valley etc.

I also returned my car to them for a warranty replacement of my windshield (tint delamination). They did an excellent job and loaned me a 2018 Silverado with 1k miles on it for the half day that they worked on it.
Great service.

It is pretty bad when you take your new 500 mile Corvette for its first oil change and the dealer does not know how many quarts it takes and even worse they don't even have the oil.
I have a base without the dry sump. When I go in for service they say, you missed your 500 mile oil change. I say that is only for the corvettes with dry sumps. They say ok, well you get 3 free oil changes anyway.
I just always request the Corvette tech at my dealership. I don't want anyone else touching it.

Just curious is there a special certificate the GM Vette techs get? Was thru a shop as part of purchase and see each tech having “master mechanic” cert with yearly stickers on the cert... thx

i posted yesterday my same 500 mile experience at local dealer and felt i was being punished for not paying them 11k more than Kerbeck. 3 1/2 hrs as they drained oil and realized they didn't have ANY oil despite my calling them in advance to confirm they had it. 45 minutes into my service they told me they didn't have the proper oil and had to send out. Additionally they did my NY state inspection and the sticker looks like it was placed by my 3 year old granddaaughter its so askew. I think from now on they can service malibus not my car

I would rather have it under-filled than overfilled, and underfilled is a "condition" that is easier to fix.

All good advice above.
I can't get over any service advisor actually saying, "for 2019, the capacity has changed from 7 to 10 qts." and that someone actually believed that nonsense. From the beginning, base wet sump Stingrays have taken 7 qts., and the dry sump versions take 9.8, when totally empty. The lack of knowledge of the product at dealers is inexcusable, and owners need to inform themselves to defend against the level of incompetence at way too many dealers.
BTW, we still need a sticky on the top of every C7 page saying 9 QUARTS ONLY ON A C7 DRY SUMP DEALER OIL CHANGE AND ADJUST THE LEVEL LATER IF NECESSARY. This has been noted probably a thousand times, yet it still comes up daily. I'm pretty sure the OP now has his overfilled.
